Lady Margaret's Park Chirk

Shortly Lady Margarets is closing until August/Sept 2022 for refurbishment. I understand the refurbishment is for new reception, new toilet/shower block and the installation of a few serviced pitches. Whilst I agree there is a need for these changes I would like to point out the shortsightedness in not adding tv aerial points to the bollards. It's a site that is open year round and in the winter most people would sit in the van and watch tv in the evening and the signal at Lady Margarets is average. I have raised this with the staff here but they think the view is that most people now watch more streaming sites than terrestrial tv. However, we have club wi-fi and at best this is poor on this site. As another footnote/feedback would it not be a better investment for the club income do the work in phases thus allowing parts of the site to remain open for those who have onboard facilities as was the case on many sites during lockdown.

If the club thinks members are streaming more than watching terrestrial tv then why aren't they investing in improving the wifi on this site.

Presumably that's when the refurb is scheduled to finish.

Yes, presumably; however, it appears to close again on the 2nd of January 2023, which I take it to mean it will no longer be an all year site, which it used to be.

When I started this post last October I was told by the Warden that the site would probably reopen in August/September 2022 but they were hoping to bring that date forward a month or so providing all went well. As I said in my original post we use this site a lot and very much want the C&MC to get it right.

Well, the site is reopening in the middle of December for a few weeks and then closing again. Rowena, can the Club please give us an accurate update of exactly what is happening with LMP.

As a side issue, when I 1st joined this forum I thought there were a lot of moaning members always criticising the Club, I now realise a lot of those people are just like me, fed up of the customer service given by the Club.

FB, I am afraid you will find this not the first or the last building contract to over run it’s completion date in the present economic conditions.

Shortage of materials, shortage of staff, price rises, staff illness, and suppliers going into administration all play a part. I bet the Club wishes they could give you a firm completion date.

In the meantime you have already been offered alternatives in the area. Go with the flow. You might even like them.

Hello

Despite the announcements in both the July and August mags (stating that the number of pitches will be increased), the refurbishment reduces the pitches to 98 from 101.  The magazine have promised to issue a correction in the September mag.  I have an email from them to confirm that.

As I have mentioned before, the number of standard pitches will be greatly reduced due to the new serviced pitches and premium pitches.

The premium pitches include a BBQ station, on which you use a disposable BBQ.  Wildlife and countryside organisations are campaigning to ban disposable BBQs, not promote their use.

Having said that ,it’s a smashing site and we can’t wait for it to re-open, as long as we can win the race to book a standard pitch!

Hi everyone,

Lady Margaret's Park major redevelopment project was delayed by the Local Planning Authority in respect of their new policy regarding discharge of waste from site to the main sewers. We had to split the project into two phases, phase 1 the existing site that will not increase any waste to the main sewer and phase 2 additional pitches in the lower extension field that would be subject to the new planning policy.

Phase 1 (main existing site) therefore commenced on 4th January this year and is on schedule to be completed by the end of August with the site reopening opening toward the end of September or beginning of October. The site will remain open all year and continue to operate all year.

The main site will see major upgrades to the facilities (toilet block, reception, MVWP's and service points etc.) and pitches with more all weather pitches and the introduction of the popular serviced pitches. These improvements will enable more pitches to remain operational throughout the year. It will inevitably reduce the number of pitches from 101 to 97 (loss of 4 pitches) It will retain the same number of caravan storage bays for members to continue to store their vans at Lady Margaret's Park.

Phase 2 will commence as soon as the Planning Authority have agreed the requirements to the new waste discharge process - the Club are not the only organisation - all new planning applications are on hold until this has been resolved by the Local Planning Authority.

The Club are ready to start as soon as permitted on the lower extension field which will provide a further 15 all weather pitches increasing the overall number of pitches at Lady Margaret's Park by 11 pitches.

The work in the lower field will continue when the main site is open with minimal disruption to the main site. We are yet to receive the requirements from the Lady Margaret's Park and so at this point in time unable to advise as to when the phase 2 works will commence (and finish).

Anyone any idea why the new bookings app shows this site as closed throughout 2023 yet you can book by phone (if you can ever get through on the phone)?

Hi All,

I have now booked 11 nights early in the New Year at LMP. When I booked  I'm very disappointed that the Club didn't listen to members regarding the refurb. LMP has always had poor TV signal, so the refurb was the perfect opportunity  to correct that & put TV hook up on the bollards. Sadly when I booked the club stated that "TV signal is poor at this site". So they've done nothing. We use LMP a lot and with it being open year round in the winter evenings 95% people watch TV in their Van. Prior to the refurb I spoke to the warden and said I hope they put TV on the bollards, he agreed it was needed and suggested I write to the club which I did, but I never got a reply. I've said this earlier in the thread but when I joined I thought a lot of members were moaners but I now realise they like I are fed up with the club never listening to their members. The club seem to have a "we know best attitude" well I've got a shock for them THEY DON'T.

Rowena, I'm sorry my post is negative, but believe me I'd much much rather be posting "The club have again listened to their members & got the refurb of LMP spot on"

FB

We are currently at the very recently refurbished Morn Hill site and a booster system has not been installed here despite the site information saying TV fair. It would seem that all the electrical bollards were replaced during the refurbishment so there was an opportunity to incorporate a booster system one imagines. I don't know how the Club decide? Having said that we seem to have an excellent TV signal via our rooftop aerial with just the occasional breakup. We were last at LMP in 2018 and we had a satellite dish then so it wasn't an issue although by the nature of the site a satellite dish might not  work everywhere?

Thanks David for the update regarding Morn Hill.

It's such a shame that the Club doesn't listen to it's members.

Rowena, yet again I'm sorry that I'm posting negatively. I truly wish I was posting the following.... "Well done to the Club on the refurb of LMP, the Club listened to members & got the refurb spot on. Once again well done"

Rowena, I won't post again on this thread, sadly it's a waste of my time because the Club just doesn't listen.
