Joining different clubs

Hi all

I have been a CAMC member since I bought my van in 2013 and I have yet to stay on a site which I didn't like so I am not thinking of leaving the Club.  A few years ago, I joined the CCC as well for 12 months, but left as when I joined, I was not aware that many of their sites have a minimum of 3 nights and as I was still working midweek at the time, found that it was not very suitable.  I am now retired so thinking of rejoining, however, after reading on this discussion group about many bad reviews on Trustpilot, I had a look at some of them and was very surprised as they appear at odds with the reviews of their sites on their web page.  I know that many of you are members of both Clubs and was wondering what your views about the "other" Club are

Quoting from DavidKlyne above:

"a site map (no such thing on a C&CC site)"

Not the case. The site map is printed inside the information leaflet handed to us at check in.

As I put above we have only stopped at 8 sites. On some we were given a map on others not. They were always separate sheets and fairly useless as maps go. It would seem there is a fair bit of variation between sites.

Part of the "allocated pitch" is surely to do with the vast range of sizes of pitches and surface types, and the foreknowing of what types of outfits have booked for what type of pitch still to arrive?

Every one of the eight we have used, have had as you say a code for the entry barrier, which was on the information we ŵere given at check in. I think all the exit barriers opened as you approached. We didn’t have any issue with the system and were generally on a pitch about 50% quicker than on a CAMC site.

It's also on line in the site details although the actual pitch numbers are omitted.

Regarding other comments about  pitch choice. Have to say we've been on very busy CAMC sites with no pitch choice left and occasionally a pitch kept for us so that each remaining arrival will actually fit on the last available spaces..

One good thing about the C&CC checking in process is that they know exactly which pitches are available after each check in so there is no driving round and round hunting for a pitch. This is due to them helping arrivals onto the site and radio calls back to the office or other site managers. I hope CAMC will adopt a similar process when the new system comes on line. At present many are left to find pitches on very big sites like Hillhead where it's a nightmare of hills and cul de sacs to negotiate without help. It's fine when things are quiet but I think managers will need to ensure users are on the right type of pitch in future? (Sorry JollyKernow, extra work I know but....!!) It won't be much good relying on people to report back which pitch they're on, it's better done from the start.

Maybe this is already in the pipeline?

Every single site we used last year - many more than eight - provided a standardised information sheet, all printed in the same format, Club logo, barrier code on the front (if applicable); telephone numbers; transport details; places of interest locally and a site map inside.

This is a fairly recent development though. We've been members a long time - since 1985 - and in the past site leaflets (assuming there were any)  were haphazard.

and a site map inside.

I read your original post to mean it was printed inside. The ones we were given were indeed folded and inside the standardised information leaflet. Although no more than 4 of the 8 provided the maps, but perhaps they had run out.🙂

Quote “I know that many of you are members of both Clubs and was wondering what your views about the "other" Club are”

Like others we belong to both clubs having said that we also use a variety of pitch providers dependant on where we want to be at that particular time away.

Some pitch providers including CCC don’t always allow a single night stay and allocate a pitch or choice of 1 or 2 pitches according to what one has booked neither of these we particularly like.

Personally, I feel being able to book 1 night (if available) and choose one’s own pitch on arrival on CAMC is a benefit.  Having said that allowing booking of HS pitch (costs a little extra) and Age Concession on CCC is also a benefit.  Booking a HS pitch will soon become available to CAMC members I believe also at a little extra I believe.

Of the 2 clubs we prefer CAMC sites if there is a choice of those 2 clubs where we want to be.

Being members of both gives us choice even more so during the past 2 years.
