Caravanning, Motorhoming and Camping are wonderful ways to take our dogs on holiday with us. This discussion is a place to share advice about holidaying with your dogs.

Please note, this is not a place to complain about dogs on campsites. We do fully understand that there can be issues and we would request that you please report these to us via our complaints and compliments for Club Campsites (link below) and please do not misuse Club Together as a channel for complaint. By sending via the appropriate channels your complaint will be logged and dealt with appropriately.

If you do post a complaint we will remove it and ask that people do not respond but report to us. Many thanks.

Report a complaint about dogs HERE (please don't post on Club Together).

Thank you everyone and happy touring! smile

Wouldn't it be nice to go back to the days when multiple dog ownership meant those having 2 or 3 dogs. I cannot understand why the CAMC doesn't stipulate a maximum number? How much income would they lose if the number was five this year and four in 10 years time.

Please don't bring children into any response.

Like DD, Moulsey, Rocky and myself you are a non-member, Mikey, so it matters not what CAMC do regarding numbers of dogs or charging as far as we're concerned but it’s good to be able to help those who aren’t aware of how the system works regarding bringing issues to the attention of CAMC. I’m not quite sure what you’re getting at, tbh, but it’s good to know CAMC is a dog friendly organisation, don’t you think?👍🏻

When we used CAMC sites we have on occasion been bothered by other people's dogs, generally this related to constant barking or yapping.

On 2 occasions it was a neighbours who had left a dog in their unit and gone out for the day. Like M, we had a word with the warden as we were concerned about the dog.

On one site we were sat outside when a unit turned up with 6 small dogs, I remember saying to OH this could be noisy. How wrong I was, the dogs were show dogs and we're perfectly behaved. They did get excited when going for a walk but other than that nothing.

Its not the dogs at fault its the owners that seem oblivious to their yapping.

Years ago on the site at Forfar we were outside talking with the warden, we could all hear a dog barking. The warden apologised, then went over to the unit and had words. We hadn't complained about it but he clearly heard it and wasn't having any of it.

Former (and even never been) members have always been welcome to contribute to the forum, Arch - it's one of its great strengths IMHO.

I don't comment on direct club affairs any more but with over 20 years past experience of club membership I feel I have ample reason to comment on events when we were members and offer advice where it's relevant. I still have a look at sites when we're away in this country and make recommendations on the "small private sites" thread, for example. Nothing wrong with that, surely?

I would reply to that post , but feel that I would only be told by some that I don’t know what I’m talking about , so I will leave it to the experts and happily leave this thread , for the time being

That's a rather odd comment HD. I think most posters on here know that you have, until very recently, been a dog owner and have some idea what you're talking about. Has anyone ever suggested otherwise? undecided

I think Moulesy has said it well, Arch.

Actually, if you read my posts here, I haven’t been giving my opinion but have been using my 20 years membership experience in an effort to guide you through the process of getting the annoyance you complain of dealt with. Therefore, I find your post quite astounding. 😤

Like Moulesy's post earlier on today we too have experienced multiple dogs that were well behaved (7 going to the Sandringham Game Fair on a CL) but also 7 next to us at Yellowcraig that were a nightmare.

I think over a long period of time caravanning it's only to be expected that you are going to get occasions when a dog or dogs are a nuisance but I have to say that considering the vast number and variety of dogs that we've spent time with on all sorts of sites we have not been unduly troubled by them.

Again like M we did have to warn the wardens of a dog left in a caravan on a hot day that was showing signs of distress and the wardens duly gave the owners a rollicking when they returned and they packed up and left the site.

All in all dogs haven't been a problem on sites for us. Now some owners....winksealed

Sorry for astounding you TW I didn't mean to, I can assure you I have enough experience in complaining through official channels if I need to and often find you get the usual corporate answers with no action, its far better sometimes to open it up to the wider audience and debate preferably in a calm and positive way.

Even though you’re specifically asked to do otherwise by the Community Manager?

You apparently have not followed the issue through in the recommended way, Arch, and that is why I have been posting to you here.

I too left CAMC recently but continue to post. I hold a few people on here in my heart & also have a soft spot for CAMC. In the not too distant future I have young folk just coming up to double figures who love the outdoors(mainly woods & forestry) & I will be rejoining to open the CAMC network to mainly 3 of us but occasionally 4. A new chapter beckons👍🏻🙂
