Hartel waste bins

For info you can just by the plastic hoop.

We broke ours on the last trip away but have mended it with araldite no problem.  They are a bit flimsy compared to the one we had on our MH.

They are terrible, a waste of space and we have never use them as they are way too small and flimsy, randomly fall open depositing contents. No idea why manufacturers have not come up with a decent bin option on any caravan. 

I keep some random cleaning stuff in ours. We have two adhesive pad stainless hooks on the wall by the hinged side door which we hang a small pedal bin liner.

They are useless, and have been on both our last two vans. We now remove it and just use a small covered plastic waste bin, tucked in a corner. 

I've broken everyone of them!

We dont use the door bin anymore, in the awning we have a 3 legged affair that holds a bin bag, Amazon.

To fix if it's broken along a clear length I use heat shrink tube, just place a full/good length over the joint and shrink down with a lighter.

My 2016 caravan from new I broke the bin within a month of ownership, repaired it, and it's gone again in another bit of the hoop, useless.

Just to be contrary we had one on our first Bailey motorhome and it survived 446 nights over six years. Proved to be a bit more robust than the Hartel locking mechanism on the actual habitation door!!!

As mentioned on my earlier post the one we had on our Bailey MH for 6 years was far better than the one we now have on the caravan. The caravan one is slightly larger but the hoop is very flimsy.

The door bins are both too small and too flimsy to be useful as waste bins. We just used to keep old plastic bags in ours. We have, though, taken ours off completely as we found that the mesh fly screen could not be used if the lower half of the door door needed to be closed. 

We only ever used ours in the caravan for cardboard packet recycling and the occasional small plastic pot. It wasn't big enough to be an effective waste bin. The one in the MH is larger and usable, which as there is insufficient floor space we do. However, it's not the best location for a bin, as it attracts flys if you leave the door open. There was another one supplied but that takes up drawer space. So we compromise and use it, but empty it often.

2008 Coachman, orginal bin still going strong, never used as an actual waste bin, i keep a small set of screw drivers in there, spanner for gas bottle, hand held controller for MM, cover for wheel clamp, poo bags for dog, dogs ball, small shopping bag for bread & milk in fact it is the first point of call for anything i cant find.

The bin, door pocket, on our van takes the fly-screen out should a gust release the door. I am frequently easing the screen back onto its guide, there must be a limited amount of time I get away with doing that.

"Waste bin"? More a total "waste of space" with a design that places the fly-screen in its way, and we know which one we would prefer to be without.
