Exploiting the members

Why is it necessary for the club sites to seek excessive profits on  school holidays. My son has booked a pitch at Brecon beacon site for the Easter holidays. Cost per night for 2 adults and 1 child  £37.80 per night. The following week it would have been £ 27.95. What extra costs does the running of the site between the 2 weeks. .Nothing just exploiting the members because of the school holidays. Yet another excuse to make more money from the members when we already pay a membership fee.

Clubs’s pricing rationale isn’t an easy one to follow, and valid points made both in defence of higher prices and against them at school holiday times. We voted with our wheels many years ago, and don’t stay on many between April and September nowadays, mainly because of prices, but we don’t like the big Sites during school holidays either. But others do, and willing to pay whatever the Club thinks appropriate, so we are happy to leave them to it.
The one thing that can be said is that Cornwall has a vast selection of Sites, coastal, inland, basic, luxurious, adventure based, AO, child friendly, etc….. We have only used one Cornish Club Site, so not much experience personally. But if Carnon Downs is subsidising Marazion…..we won’t complain!😉

I think Moulesy and I might be a lot more savvy than you think SB. I love Bodmin Moor, and yes, it has lots to offer. However, as a choice for camping location……..

It’s officially the wettest place in Cornwall. 🤷‍♀️ 🤣

So do I. However, if I can exclude it from my month’s sojourn in lovely Cornwall, I much prefer it.

Once drove up the A30 from Fowey to North Petherwin, day out to Otter Sanctuary. The rain was so heavy, we had to pull over onto a refuge until it eased off, just so that we could see! This was in a Range Rover. In July.🤣 The Otters loved the mud though.

As Steve says, one of the annoyances about Club pricing is the ever expanding creep of 'higher band' pricing, encompassing more and more days within any given 'premium' period.

'school holidays' seem to include holiday periods from any country in the UK, irrespective of the location of the site, trapping anyone who holidays across a border....well, it's a school holiday somewhere☹️

bank holidays are no longer confined to one or two days and perhaps the contained weekend, but a week or so either side.

Easter, this year covers three 'holidays' over four days in mid April (15th-18th) yet in Clubland 'Easter' lasts for 16 days from 8th-24th...

back in the dim and distant, many working folk took 'Easter Week' off work, I didn't know this holiday was now over a fortnight long💁

You can not prevent companies from raising their prices as demand increases. Why would a business in high market demand and a full order book reduce its prices?

Maybe the complexity of the CMC tariff should be replaced with a simplified version based on site micro climate, specifically rain probability? 😉

Nah, it might make folks more informed. Huge benefits from having millions flee overseas in search of the Sun. 😁
