Exploiting the members

Why is it necessary for the club sites to seek excessive profits on  school holidays. My son has booked a pitch at Brecon beacon site for the Easter holidays. Cost per night for 2 adults and 1 child  £37.80 per night. The following week it would have been £ 27.95. What extra costs does the running of the site between the 2 weeks. .Nothing just exploiting the members because of the school holidays. Yet another excuse to make more money from the members when we already pay a membership fee.

Lest anyone should think that "exploitation" is unique to the club, have a look at the prices for a family of 2 adults and 2 children at Trevornick just up the road from the club site at Treamble Valley, the cheapest pitch for a fortnight in August being "just" over £1000! (And don't forget the "extras"). surprised

It must suit you seeing you rejoined after a break so what does the name matter as long as folk are happy and want to use it’s products?

I re-joined mainly to exploit two things during the Covid problems.  Mainly the no deposit and easily cancelled booking system (RIP 😂).  Access to a generally consistent standard of basic sites; nothing special but reasonably acceptable.  Renewal this year is in the lap of the Gods, but unlikely.

So clearly CAMC filled a need and exploitation, as you call it, is very much your favoured method of operation when it suits. How, then, can you be against higher prices at peak times on the grounds that it’s 'exploitation'?🤔

Sorry but it doesn't correlate.

I assume that Trevornick is commercial site, not a members club.

Oh, well that's all right then, let them rip families off - just because they can! yell

Treamble Valley works out at just under £600 for the same period and no "extras"!

So who is most guilty of "exploitation"? undecided

Its called market forces, a key element of capitalism. Maybe a better approach would be to means test us and provide a price accordingly to individual members!🤪

Chalk & Cheese….Trevornick is a factory campsite with extensive entertainment, pool/spa, 18 hole golf course, restaurants/bars, fishing lakes etc. Comparison with Treamble is a nonsense. Wouldn’t stay at either of them.

"As to CCC sites, too variable in standards in my experience."

How large was your sample on which you based this statement...one site, two, thirty-seven?

Posted on 22/01/2022 21:57

In my green and salad days quite a few. But surely the number is immaterial, as you once said I've done enough to know the difference an have an opinionwink

btw the way you know that site you often praise, Concierge Camping, they go from £47 per night one day to £69 the next and appear to have a price increase on weekends. In summer it peaks (pun intended) to £85, now that to me is possibly exploitation but as you would say (and did) the site is probably worth every penny over a club site!

And all those "extras" are, of course ... er .... extra (costs).

But one thing do agree on is that we wouldn't stay there! smile
