With the government wanting all cars to be electric in years to come and some MHers have them as runarounds how do you think the club should address the issue, This is NOT a thread against electric cars.

Do you think the club should change the bollard to accommodate the second connection, have a designated charging area and should the charging bollard be metered so you pay as you use, or the cost added to pitch fee, or any other suggestion.

I started a post a bit earlier then tea was ready so Deleted User it ,but the gist of it was ,we went on the bus to Lynn today it now takes a new route, and it passed a BMW dealer near bus station,  so when OH did her shopping walked back to see their take on charging an EV via the 3pin mains outlet on a LV and after the sales lady went to find out she came back, and advised that the manager and the service staff did a sharp intake of breath and would not advise but ,would contact BMW UK HQ,so I await their findings as they said they will get BMW to copy their reply to me

To be honest as far as the caravan is concerned there should be no problem as the cabling is rated for at least a 10 amp circuit.

On BMW's website I suggest you read this where it supplies you with a 13a plug for charging at home or to be portable where fast charging is not available.

(HERE)

At the moment nearly all EV manufacturers supply and allow the use of portable charging, Tesla may be the exception.

No matter what my opinion on usage on site, I have no beef with EV's as a vehicle so try to be factual with my posts.

Actually I am afraid that you were seriously misinformed. As we are thinking of buying an i3 we have spent some time talking to BMW. The standard charging method is through a normal 13amp plug, however, it can take up to 12 hours from a discharged battery so they tend to recommend the more rapid home installation charger.

As we use a car for many short trips the 13 amp plug is fine although we will probably go for the more rapid charger as it is government subsidised.

The car wouldn’t be much use to us if we couldn’t charge from a normal household socket as if we were visiting relatives we would plug in to recharge for the return trip.
