I read elsewhere that C&CC are closing some sites and cancelling people’s bookings due to staff shortages. Sure enough, it's true and they've updated their website today. I hope nobody here is affected.

Covid is never going away, neither is the impact of Brexit - add in the rising cost of air travel, and the era of cheap mass market overseas holidays is drawing to a close.

the U.K. holiday industry can adapt or die. Too much of the industry is not geared to the return of couples and families with better expectations, and is far too parochial and amateur. ‘It was good enough for me as a child in 1970’ doesn’t cut it. The camping industry intoto needs to seriously raise its game.

At a minimum, I expect good toilet facilities, a shop and bar/eatery on site.

CL’s? I’ve always found the idea of roughing it in a field with little more than just a stand pipe and being charged for the ‘privilege’ a very curious concept indeed.

Steady on !!!!!!!!!!!!Cant remember when i last used a club site, and i mean for real, not like some on here who make this claim but have been seen to be hiding in the depths of Devon, laughing but i do use insurance facilities for van, RP for overthere, if we ever get there again, and have had some good discounts on things such as Satnav, clothing/boots etc  from the likes of Mountain Warehouse, so not a complete waste of £54   laughing and i do like to support those who use club sites yell

As someone has said "open the gates and let them go" just now it's 31C here and I presume they want to be somewhere hotter!  wink

Whatever "hotter" means..........

and i think this is a very key factor, for sure some UK site are struggling to remain open as a result of covid, however, climate change is with us in a big way, e.g. devastation in Western EU, and temperatures are rising, who wants to be in a caravan when it is 40c, unless of course you have some very good A/C.

Mine has been open for most of day, just got a beer from fridge and it is showing 38 degs, Malaga was 38 degs with night time temps no lower than 30c. We only go overthere March thru June normally to get some early sun/warmth and visit daughter, to be in Spain July/August can be down right unpleasant.

Yes this is a small island and in some areas very crowded, but as temperatures rise parts of the country not explored by many will open up, lived north of Aberdeen for 12-14 years on some beaches on that east coast all you ever saw that resembled human were the seals, today Aberdeen is showing 25 degs, i bet the beaches which are fantastic are still only hosting seals, there are some fantastic golf courses, Donald Trump owns one just outside Aberdeen laughing

our beach today was sort of crowded but nothing to compare to Devon/Cornwall, 2 familes i spoke with had travelled just 10 miles and they had been on the beach since 0930 hrs this morning and were loving it. laughing

Our lot have gone wind surfing in Kimmeridge Bay, so lucky to be out and about enjoying things. smile

Dorset, love it, only 2 hrs for us with the van, my Spanish daughter is in Troon Scotland and was still on the beach at 2200 hrs yesterday, who says the UK has got nothing to offer. I am sure the closing of sites will only be a temporary glitch laughing

Oh Dorset and Troon in the same paragraph 🙂. I love both places. Nasty fire at Troon station yesterday I believe.
