Cancellation reasons

Just cancelled a club site for next week. Entirely due to the fuel situation but not a choice on reason given. Why not add Other and a box to write in?   Came back from holiday on Friday and have 150 miles in tank so unless I can refill this week I won't have enough.  I've seen in the news that nurses, doctors and teachers can't get to work this morning because of the panic buying , I don't want that on my conscience.

If? I manage to get the correct amount? not plus one penny, surprised I always ask when paying what prize do I getwink

The more expensive it becomes the harder it gets! It was easy when Esso Plus was 37p/gallon - the dials turned very slowly. I managed £30.01 in a garage this week with £30 limit - the lady behind the till looked very disapproving at me, like I’d broken the rules.

C’est la guerre! 😀

Filling up for my Land Rover for the most recent expedition I was surprised the pump did not cut out at £100 !

All the attention seems to be on gas, but oil prices are getting scary too! Heating oil has virtually doubled in recent weeks, diesel can’t be far behind. At least we won’t need to worry about shortages of things we can’t afford anyway. 🥴

Just a reflection…

In days long since past I was a petrol pump attendant at weekends. Nobody would dream of serving themselves. Even then I recall supply shortages and coupons. I had to turn away anybody but locals and account holders - that created some heated arguments! Rises in fuel duty were usually announced several hours before implementation and sparked the same kind of panic buying that we see today. Plus sa change!

I still have the petrol coupons from when we had the Suez "crisis", and when  Lord Stokes?  was poo, pood for saying petrol would In time be  £1 a gallonlaughing

Metrication fixed that by shifting to a unit less than a quarter of a gallon to pull the wool over they eyes of the public.

Brent Crude is now north of $80 a barrel, so that will trickle through to the pumps in the not too distant future. As for the "metrication stunt", I suspect there aren't enough of us left to gasp at the current price of £6.10s.0d . I remember spending £1 a week filling up my old Ford Consul.

That wouldn't have been the turquoise one we saw this afternoon near St Ives would it, CY?

A pale yellow, known as the "Flying Custard". Almost certainly in the great car park in the sky since it was 60% Isopon and burnt oil like Red Adair.
