Battery powered site maintenance equipment

I seem to recall a staff member posting to say machinery was being changed to electric/battery powered equipment as it became due for replacement.

The equipment on club sites is quite long-lasting stuff, and an accountant's  justification would be based on running cost / saving by investment for new. Admittedly, the return on investment would not be great, in cash terms, but is the club just in it for the cash?

Has anyone come across any environmentally friendly / quiet equipment yet on club sites?

Don't forget that it's our money which funds the club and extra expenditure will be recouped in increased membership and site fees.

I have a recollection of someone posting about seeing battery equipment on a club site somewhere.

Site staff at Merrose thought that some site are using battery equipment this year and it will be rolled out across some sites this year.

A said earlier in the year there is a lot of local communes here using battery equipment again with battery packs either on waist or back packs plus larger equipment so it can be done.

I've been trying to source spare battery packs for my business for a while now. You can buy the battery operated equipment but obtaining spare batteries at this present time is nigh on impossible.

Yes, the best kind of environmentally friendly rubbish collection we saw was at Marazion. It was a push/pull along trolley, staff member had no problems using it and it was virtually silent. Accept from the cheerful hello as he walked past each outfit.😁 It’s a small site, relatively flat as well, so a good option. I also know whose idea it was, and 👏👏👏to him😉

Conversely, we got so sick of being mowed around every morning on the grass sites, that it pushed us into long stays on CLs, and we seldom now have more than the odd night or two on a Club Site. Three solid weeks of listening to tractors from 9am to tea time did have me complaining to HQ. So we tried a HS site that Autumn……..that was chain saws and shredders at White House Beach😱

You choose your Club Site with care. All that neatness and pampering much beloved of Club Site users does not lend itself to a quiet peaceful holiday. Mind the Club have solved that to certain extent nowadays buy shoving limestone chippings and tarmac everywhere. So now it’s the Wastemaster Rumble that is the dominant noise pollutant🤣 All hail Mother Nature…..but seldom on a Club Site.

Ttda, in that case you might like Wildflower Meadow Camping near Kynance Cove next time you are down here - it lives up to its name and you would get your motorhome in, but it’s not for caravans. 

Looks very nice EuroT. We were saying last year we ought to have a few days down on Lizard. We have swum off Kynance in the past, but it gets far too busy nowadays. Looks like dog ban is only in place July August as well now. We spotted a few quiet looking sites down there last year. We usually stay in Marazion/Penzance area, as it gives us lots of options instead of driving too far. There are some very nice eco type places in Cornwall, mind, I much prefer car/ van down there, we love all the really tiny lanes, can’t get even our little MH down most of them😁

Some sites are using battery powered buggies. Much depends on the size of the site and the maintenance needed. The greenery grows fast in temperate UK! I see some are opting for less mowing which is good. 

How battery operated equipment compares to petrol driven is probably the deciding factor at present.

I use Makita-not cheap but super reliable, fast charging & plentiful units on various platforms👍🏻
