Just read on FB that Bristol CC have given the club a 3 month extension. This was announced on the club site web page on the 9th. Don't try and book for New Year though, it's full

Has anybody seen the one review not happy folk at all. We have never stayed there as not our sort of site but can see why it is popular, and the club will not spend money if it does close in January.

When we stayed a few days ago it was nothing like as bad as indicated in that review. The facilities were clean and the rest of the site appeared as it always has, a pleasant city Aire rather than a destination site. However, it would seem that facilities mentioned as broken down / closed  at the end of August, are still in that state. Either that or they have been fixed and others broken.  Either way, hopefully the club will carry out these relatively low cost plumbing repairs. The site will almost certainly be full until it closes and they will be raking in plenty of cash.

As to noise from the repair works, we didn’t notice anything significant, however we did notice the road past the site was much quieter on a night. I suspect the statement on the site page is there to cover eventualities like a bit of pile driving for bank stabilisation. If they did any that would certainly be annoying.

Yes the reviews are reflecting the site is being run down to it's closure but it has never been a place that people use for relaxing  on site but as a base for exploring Bristol. I have to say that I will miss the luxury of unlocking the harbourside gate and stepping into the lovely waterfront! The water taxis and trips into the city are totally unique. smile

Especially the water taxi with Grommet as its figure headlaughing

Yes, I meant to add a couple of photos yesterday, but things ground to a halt for me on the web site.

So here's Gromit and also a photo of the harbour festival, usually held in July. Let's hope the new caravan site will be up and running and people can continue to enjoy these things once more. smile
