Door repair needed in East France

Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but I'm currently stopped in Châlons-en-Champagne (just past Reims) and travelling  South to pont de Bourgogne Saint- Marcel (down past Dijon and Beaune) tomorrow (Tues 17th). My caravan door is not shutting, the hinges appear to have worn out and it just keeps slipping down. I've got by so far through lifting it back up and tightening the screws but it's getting worse fast and I'm worried it will just collapse! Do any experienced travellers know of a good mobile mechanic in this area of France, or a workshop that I might pass on route? Many thanks

Do you have Red Pennant Insurance? If so they may be able to point you in the direction of someone who can repair it. I think they keep a list of friendly repair agents and garages across France. The problem is usually the sourcing of any parts rather than having the work done. If its a UK caravan its unlikely that parts will be available locally.

Google says go to CLC Libertium caravan dealer with workshop at St Dizier. Campsite owner may have better idea. And as DK says your breakdown insurance may be even better still. Good luck.

PS But I see your plea was three weeks ago and it has been kept hidden since then. That really is shameful.

The OP posted his query on 17th July. I hope that he did manage to get help.

Is this another case of a delay while awaiting "approval"? If so, then it is clearly useless posting, as a first post,  a request for urgent and immediate help.

I don’t suppose the OP realised it was ‘useless posting’

I don't think Mods have anything to do with approving posts. This is the remit of Rowenna and other members of staff.

I've noticed several first posts (replying to one in Parts & Accessories myself today) lately, all of which are several weeks old.

Maybe a Mod could raise the issue with Ro and ask her to take steps to address the issue.

I myself will step aside from this forum and will not be answering other queries until the Club managers can explain why these members were kept waiting for three weeks after putting in an urgent request for help.
