Dieppe late

We are booked to arrive in Dieppe on the 22.00 ferry from Newhaven.  It's clearly too late to check in to a camp site, but will need to stop over before carrying on with our journey the following morning..

Has anyone else done this crossing with a caravan . and if so how did you manage this problem ?

Afraid I can't help with that, it's one of the reasons we don't use that crossing. Timings are just not suitable. It might have to be a motorway aire for a few hours, if so do be careful.

A few options.

The Alan Rogers site (owned by this Club) says that Camping le Source stays open for late arrivals. So e mail that site to check.

E mail other sites in the Dieppe area to ask if any of them have a late night arrivals area.

If those enquiries fail it might be overnight in the big supermarket car park in Dieppe.

Or change the time of your ferry - either sailing overnight or staying at Newhaven port overnight and sailing next morning.

Hi, As a caravanner you cant use aires-officially-so its likely to be a parking spot.

I would be looking for a service area which has a reasonable distance to the carriageway, for noise reasons, or a suitably large supermarket.

We have only used this route once and, due to a delay on arrival, missed our pre arranged site check in leading to a very uncomfortable few hours in a layby.

There's a fair bit of parking to the west of the harbour adjacent to the motorhome aire or, as previously suggested the Auchan car park at Rue des Acadiens.

I realise that !  undecided

Perhaps to avoid confusion (for some) I should have said ' Aire de repos' !  .

I contacted camping Dieppe Vitamin a little shine age through the camping card app and received a response from Camping Marqueval nearby. She said an envelope could be left with the barrier code so we can get in. I'll need to book first. We're on the 4pm boat in May.

That suggests to me that both sites do that. Previous years at another site be booked but had to go into the bar to get the code. The French don't seem to mind late arrivals

Another bonus with the 4pm crossing is that we don't need to pay silly prices at the Brighton site!.

We have stayed at Marqueval, nice site not too far from Dieppe.

Hi,

Did you have any luck with this? Would be grateful to hear about your solution, as we are thinking of arriving late into Dieppe next summer with our caravan.  Cheers in advance.

We are booked on the Newhaven to Dieppe ferry at 09.30 on 16/05/2024. Does anyone know whether there is caravan parking at the ferry terminal and if you are likely to get a good nights sleep there. DFDS says that there is car parking at the terminal, but no-one will confirm Car and caravan parking. We are travelling from the midlands and don't want to drive far, before boarding the ferry.

Alternatively, a good CL in the vicinity of Newhaven would be acceptable, if anyone can recommend one.
