We are booked to arrive in Dieppe on the 22.00 ferry from Newhaven.  It's clearly too late to check in to a camp site, but will need to stop over before carrying on with our journey the following morning..

Has anyone else done this crossing with a caravan . and if so how did you manage this problem ?

We are booked on the Newhaven to Dieppe ferry at 09.30 on 16/05/2024. Does anyone know whether there is caravan parking at the ferry terminal and if you are likely to get a good nights sleep there. DFDS says that there is car parking at the terminal, but no-one will confirm Car and caravan parking. We are travelling from the midlands and don't want to drive far, before boarding the ferry.

Alternatively, a good CL in the vicinity of Newhaven would be acceptable, if anyone can recommend one.

In the FAQ’s on the website for Newhavenferryport.co.uk it  says yes you can park overnight - but as they have had building work taking place it might be best to phone and check.

Hammonds Green Farm is an excellent site not that far from Newhaven. We used it last year. Good clean facilities, excellent pub that does food, walkable if you fancy it. We left site at 8.00 and got to terminal comfortably in time. I can't think of too many places I'd want to avoid that are worse than the terminal parking area!

Having used this crossing a few times, I would counsel not to stay on the port - it is not so big and I would wonder if you would get a good nights sleep.  If you are on the 09.30 sailing - you would need to plan for an 08:30 latest check in and I tend to book the Brighton CMC site.  They have a barrier on the exit which allows you to come and go as you please 24/7 and I am sure they would provide you with a pitch as near to the exit as possible to avoid disturbing others - though an 07.45 hrs departure is not so early.  I will be doing that on our crossing early May 24. Bonne Voyage!laughing
