CLUB MAGAZINE July 2019
“What it means to be part of our Club” page 12 & 13

After reading this I got “just a taste”  that they are “ forgetting” CLs
I am amazed WHAT A CLUB!

No wonder some members have not heard of CLs!

The club for me is a means to an end.  I like insurances, breakdown cover, travel services and the CL 's

I'm not keen on the regimentation of sites, although I use them and don't begrudge the costs, the club website i.e. CT, search system etc.

I have seen motorhomes parked up in lay byes on my travels and quite often they appear to be business premises  of the "ladies" who sit outsidewink

Despite Rowenna's protestations I am more likely to believe the testimony of current and former CL owners and the evidence that I see myself. Therefore I tend to agree with the OP that the club was remiss in not acknowledging the contribution that CLs bring to the membership.

As to what the club means to me then I'm with Oneputt, ie a means to an end albeit slightly different one. No more no less.

As I mentioned earlier my father regularly used laybyes  (and us children with him) and no one less mean ever drew breath. It was his generations view that after what had passed for holidays in seaside boarding houses  owning a caravan gave the feedom to travel and "do thier own thing"  and the world wasn't full of dangerous criminals who would rob us in the night. Perhaps the world was a safer place then or is it just my "rose tinted glasses" again.

I would suggest a bit of both, AD. wink Fifty or so years ago things were mighty different form the present day, and there were also an awful lot let sites that one could use.....although saying that there were also a great many fewer caravans, and relatively few M/Hs.

I suspect a few like us, who started touring quite early in their lives loved the simplicity and lack of fuss that it gave. Hence our love of CLs and small private sites.
