Reviewing CLs

I love reading reviews of CL sites. More than once we've decided to visit a particular area and stayed on some marvellous CLS as a result of reading a review on here. (In fact just read one for a CL in Essex which looks interesting.)

But why do so few members appear to feel it's worthwhile writing a review? Some have only a couple for last year; some date back even further than that!

I always write a review of CL sites after we use them and wonder why there are so few others. Come on folks, given the questionable commitment of the club to the network it's surely more important than ever that we members do our bit.

Moulesy, Have just spent 7 outstanding nights on an excellent CL, = Wildmeer Farm Mildenhall Suffolk.  UHU, water and waste facilities for each Pitch located in a lovely secluded  glade. All for £12 per night. See the web page!  But as I don't use this clunky forum much these days I haven't a clue how and where to leave a report. It used to be much easier!  Perhaps thats why more people don't do it!

TF, Under UK holidays - UK Sites select Certificated Locations. You will get the CL page click on Search For A CL. Type the site name in the top box, a list should appear after first few letters from which you click  the appropriate CL and scroll down to the Search box, click on that and the site details will appear. On the right hand side is a review summery, select "Read more reviews". You'll then get the review ratings and to the right in red is "Review and rate this site", select that and go from there. Hope that this helps. If not you know where to find me.wink

Well nth very succinctly put 😉. A doddle to find 😢 By the time you've done all that one has to hope you still have the will to write a review. The club really ought to make this much easier to do. I seriously wonder if the club realise the value that CL'S bring to the club 😭😢

If I could have written it in a shorter way so that it still made sense I would have done so. I agree that it does seem excessively complicated but 'tis easy when you know how!!wink I think that there are the odd one at OH who do realise the importance of CLs but they are in a very small minority with no clout to push them to the top of the list.

Perhaps what they should do is rather just have a flag to read reviews it should read and add reviews. It does seem easier to find and add reviews for CL's than it is for Club sites?

TF, note the correct spelling is Wildemere. It may help find it more easily.

If you search (on computer) by name and insert Wild it will come up with Wildmere, so not too much of a problem

Thanks all, I think that you have very effectively proved my point, its just not user friendly.  Bakers2 covered it very well.  By the time you get there you've lost all enthusiasm to do a report.

Come on CC, sort this B***** forum out!  Make it quicker, far less clunky, and easier to navigate.

The problem with some reviews is that they cna do a lot of damage. We visited a lovely CL recently where there had been some really bad reviews which made statements like "the toilet block was vile" and complaining about noise from the main road. We found the toilet to be basic but clean and heard no road noise whatsoever so we felt the poor reviews were way off the mark. Speaking to the owners, they told us that they very nearly closed the CL as the poor reviews decimated the business for the year. Added to that they appear to have no way of putting their point of view across to dispute any false claims and the club would not remove them even though they were clearly factually incorrect. Quite a few good reviews have now been added which push the bad ones down the list but they are still there. This is why I take very little notice of reviews and prefer to see for myself. I have very very rarely thought a CL was not up to scratch and when I do I don't visit again.

Seems the club woud rather spend time and money on Facebook( and we know how bad that is) rather than on their own forum. Again giving little support to Cls
