Poor weather

Im currently staying on a great little CL, Mouse Cottage in Nottington, Dorset. It's a smashing little site with great facilities. When I arrived on Monday, I was sited on one of the two hardstandings the other one being occupied also.

I feel so sorry for Emma and Craig, the owners as they have had to cancel all their bookings over Easter. Despite having plastic mesh under the grass and land drains, there has been so much snow and rain that the land is waterlogged.

Lets hope that the weather picks up soon and all our CL owners are able to continue with their bookings.

Oh  come  on  you  lot,  cheer  up,  It's  all  going  to  start  warming    &  drying  up  Right  Now  !!

Well  at  least  I  hope  so  'cos  I'm  loading  t'  van  for  a  few  days  up  there  in  some strange  northern  club  site  at  Nunnykirk.  The  last  time  I  was  there,  some  11  years  ago,  I  got  washed  back  over  to  Englethwaite  Hall  nr  Carlisle.  Parked  on  grass  with  no  h/stands  the  water  came  over  my  boots  and  getting  the  'van  off  the  pitch  caused  ruts  big  enough  for  a  canoeing  competition.  At  least  the  reservoir  should  be  full  !!

It might just be an idea to give the wardens at Nunnykirk a call before setting off, as they've had more snow up that way today, ABM, and they've already had to move some of the seasonals onto "higher" ground.

I'll  be  doing  that  on  Monday  Nell,  Then  it'll  be  a  shortened  trip  first  to  Englethwaite  if  there's  room  --  And  even  that  would  be  strange  i.e.  going  there  without  benefit  of  having  picked  up  a  tad  of  Scots  dialect  surprised

And  there  is  more  snow  forecast  early  next  week,  must  get  my  Kittens  Mittens  out  again  frown

But  thanks  for  the  reminder,  Mate  wink

14:15  Saturday  31st  March

Phone  call  made    Nellie,  the  Dirty  Deed  Is  Done  surprised  embarassed

First  break  of  the  year  at  Nunnykirk  Cancelled  due  to  sodden  grass  frown

But  The  First  Break  of  the  year  will  now  be  Same  Dates  At  Old  Hartley  with  H/standing  laughing  --  at  least  if  this  gets  ultra  wet  it'll  probably   just  be  a  Very  High  Tide  wink

I'm  determined  to  get  my  "Beamish  Fix"  in  this  year

Obviously a good job done, phoning up. It's always best to check when the conditions are a "bit" iffy!! Glad that you managed to get a H/S pitch at Old Hartley. Plenty of places to visit up that part of the coast. Enjoy your trip.

I expect there has been a lot of juggling with site bookings this Easter due to weather conditions. Have a good time ABM. smile

I've  had  24  hours  practicing,  Brue,  and  the  general  opinion  is  that  I'm  a  lousy  bloomin'  comedian,  but  a  Juggler  --  Never  cry

Thanks  for  the  kind  thoughts  anyway  but  I'm  determined  to  get  into  Beamish  at  least  once  if  not  twice  this  w/end  wink
