OS map Grid Refs gone!!

Is there a good reason why the new Club Sites Directory is not showing OS Grid Refs?

Surely I can't be the only member who still likes to see exactly where I will be towing to?

Google Maps sometimes does not show the CL / field clearly. A pinpoint location with the OS map sorts that out. Or rather, it did.

A black mark for the CL dept at the Club. Could do better.

A very interesting system. Much more precise than a post code and perhaps more acceptable to many than lat/long. Although the one for the road entrance seems to put the 3 metre square at the junction of Grays Lane and Oxford Road, rather than Cholsey Grange Lane.

I was lucky enough to have a good education, and the retentive capacity to understand and be capable of using that education throughout my life. In the interests of “use it or lose it,” I’m not ready to dumb down yet, so have just emailed Club to send me a copy of Grid References. They can put it into the same envelope as the price list, another little gem most useful where the internet don’t reach..........smile

Hear hear Takethedogalong….could not agree more.  There will, no doubt, be further 'bloopers' before 'the powers that be' learn (if that ever happens?).....

I'm wondering what is the life expectancy of the handbook?  Comments to your local 'member representative'.....  Thin ends of large wedges comes to mind..cool

I assume it will depend on if they catch on or go the same way as Betamax.😉

NG cords and lat and long have been in use for a long time and have the advantage that they are multi format. However, I can see the appeal of this new system for purely digital media, as the majority of folk are going to be more comfortable with a web address than a numeric coordinates system.

SO, We are advised not to use our Sat-Navs to find the entrance to Club Sites or Cls and yet the main alternative means of finding them......good old fashioned map reading by OS referance grids is removed from the bi-annual handbook ?

Saying oh, its on the internet !  Is as bad as my Bank closing my local branch....because its all on the internet !

All this is making folk without good Internet access very angry and as a paying customer......very poorly served...nil  points for service.

Along the corridor and up the stairs stays with you all your life.....once learned.

Some of us have expensive Jeeps, complete with very expensive looking Sat Navs............that will only accept Zip Codes, not Post Codes.embarassed A lovely little anomaly to look out for if anyone is contemplating parting with £40,000 plus.

We can live with it as we seldom use a Sat Nav, it works fine on full addresses or POI, and we use our smart phones more. I think other kinds of Jeep are okay as made in Italy, ours was made in USA.

But the Club provides POI's (points of interest) for all Club sites and CL's that will be accurate as the sat nav will use the GPS co-ordinates. If a CL does not provide the correct information is it likely they will provide the correct grid reference? If your vehicle sat nav is not man enough for the job there are plenty of stand alone models that will give your the correct positioning. My TomTom sat nav with camper maps installed has not let be down yet.

We could tour America with confidence, it’s the UK our Sat Nav hates!😂😂😂

I was just taught Eastings before Northings. As in E before N alphabetically. However, as you say, you do remember.
