CL Site Owners' Website

If you are a keen supporter of the CL network you might like to know that there's a dedicated support group for CL owners where they share best practice, information and encourage other landowners to set up new CLs.

The group liaises with the Club on a regular basis, but like the CLs themeselves, it is entirely independent. The group receives no financial support or direction from the Club. The group was formed in 2014 and now has over 600 members.  Find out more on our website

How you can help: If you are visiting a CL and think they could benefit from advice or support from fellow CL owners, please point them in the direction of the group.  Likewise, if you know someone with a great spot for a new CL, the Owners Group website is a complementary source of information to the Clubs own guide for setting up a CL.

The group is entirely run by volunteers (all CL owners), is free to join and welcomes feedback from CAMC members, especially those with knowledge of the CL network!

Does that mean that in your world I am not allowed to question the CL owners about electric costs. As it is such a big concern to then then they should answer. Also I am asking them and not you.

As for the super market bit there is a world if difference between a super market and CL

It’s nothing to do with my world and nothing to do with what's allowed. You posted an open question not specifically addressed to anyone so, being a forum, you must accept there will be responses from anyone who wishes to reply.

Personally, I think your probing is way out of order but that's only my opinion and CL owners might be very happy to discuss their operating costs with you but you cannot force a response from them.

There care plenty of CL with their own email addresses printed in the SD or available on the club's CL pages. Why don't you select a few and email them personally asking them for a breakdown of there charges and then should they wish to give that information you'll have your answer in private. They not wish to publish the breakdown on here for all who look in to see.

As  keep saying I am asking CL owners, I don’t want a full breakdown just the one thing. This is my last reply on the question to a non CL owner who is does not know the answer

Thankyou, Nellie, for that helpful suggestion. Ted's own email address can be found quite easily from this thread. 👍🏻

If I was using a CL in summer at £15/night inc EHU, I don't think a £5/night increase in winter for the additional electricity is too excessive.

However the problem the CL would have is we are now approaching  low season Club site prices. During the Winter and assuming location is similar I would chose a Club site for the site roads and less chance of a mud bath.

It is a very hypothetical question that would be dependant on how much per year it costs (forever rising)to run the CL in the first place ,as it would depend on electric usage which is as others have said  (how long is a piece of string)

Mikey, your comments such as “mud bath” show scant respect for the efforts and substantial outlay that many CL owners give to their Sites.

It’s only because lots of CLs choose to invest in their Sites, and stay open during the Winter months, that it is fairly easy to tour in Winter. Many of the Club’s own Sites close, or have a shortened season, with few staying open beyond early November. Choosing a Club Site over a CL in some areas (Cornwall for example) just isn’t possible.

Edit: you of course could do neither, as you aren’t a Member😉

That is right, when I go away in February but not this February I can find Club sites for less or just a few pence more than £20 with full facilities and as you say not a mud bath.

But then the extra £12 per night you would have to pay on a club site would negate that, and you could not use a cl anyway

I don’t need to ask Ted as his CL has meters

So you'd get a very precise electricity costing which would help your investigation.
