Am I being unreasonable?

I was in touch with a CL over the weekend to book a 7 night stay next May. Looked very good, toilet/shower, dog friendly, great reviews, ideal for where we wanted to stay and just £15 a night. Ideal for us I thought ......

.....until I had a reply saying, yes a pitch was available, please let us have the usual details and "a deposit of £60"! surprised

Now I've got nothing against being asked for a reasonable deposit and I can understand particularly why CL owners might want to do so. But, really, the equivalent of 4 nights for a 7 night stay! Is that reasonable. Needless to say I'm looking elsewhere in the same area.

(Out of interest, no other CL booked for next year has asked us for a deposit of any sort.)

BB - I really don't know how you can have so seriously misread or misinterpreted what I've written throughout this thread.  Why are you, for the second time, suggesting a lack of "commitment"? My "commitment" was to finding a site in this area. This site was the first I enquired about and since I found their request for a 60% deposit unreasonable I decided to look elsewhere. I don't know why you raise the possibility of having to cancel the holiday - that would only be for very extreme health reasons and in that case a £60 loss would be the least of my concerns.

Let me say again (it's not "rocket science" wink) I am entirely happy for CL owners to run their sitest in whichever way they see fit - I've no axe to grind with this particular site and if they can fill it with these terms, good luck to them.  smile

It's a good job you found if again so quickly to be able to book that other site. It's a terrible thing, seeing a commitment that's unwanted, unloved and in a void. Happy days.👌
