Adults Only CLs Annoyance..

Hi All, Apoligies if this has been raised before but couldn't find any previous threads on the topic..

Whilst carrying out my usual serch for the perfect CL in the Perfect location etc, one thing stuck me that hasn't jumped out at me before  -  The large number of CL's that seem to be "Adults Only".

We are the usual family ( 2 Adults, 2 kids and a dog ) and find it annoying that when I find the "perfect" CL, I look down the listing and discover the dreaded adults only logo!

Now I realise that its all down to the owners discretion and fully respect that - but we enjoy the smaller "non commercial" sites as much as our fellow CL users and aren't keen on paying the hiked club site fees.

It just seems that the CL lifestyle isn't pitched towards the family unit..  We all love the club and pay our fees but if the increasing trend for Adults only increases then we'll have to re-think the membership fees.

As a side note - We've discovered DA camping and rallying over the past few years and while its great, we just love the seclusion that CL's bring

Many Thanks,

Ian - "Still searching!"

I can't understand why AO CLs are such a contentious issue, given how relatively few of them exist.

When we're looking for somwhere to stay, our priorities, in order, are - loctaion, dogs allowed, EHU, toilet, shower. All but the first two are relatively unimportant. If we find a site which is AO we'll go there, but we certainly wouldn't go specifically searching for one.

This thread reminds me of a shakespear play " Much Ado about Nothing "

There are many more sites and CL's within the CC which cater for families than those which are AO. I don't see how this can be a problem as it is giving the CC customers a proper choice.

Our priority when choosing a campsite, like my learned friend Moulesy, is 1-Location ,2- Ehu and  3-do they allow dogs. ------------- Public lavatories and public showers are relatively unimportant.as we have those facilities in our van  ----- I do not care if it is AO or not.

We all have a good choice with the current arrangements they don't need to be changed.

Cool

Agree Moulesey; for us the first consideration is location too.  Not having dogs your 2nd one therefore doesn't come into it, and the cat stays in the MH anyway.  EHU for us isn't necessary either due to solar panel.

If an AO site/CL fits the bill, we'll go there, why not;  But more often than not the site/CL will NOT be an AO one in my experience, so is it really such an issue?

if a site (any site) were AO, would any dogs have to be 'of a certain age' to qualify....Undecided

BB, now you've put the dog amongst the pigeons Winking

One of the reasons I go away in the van is to escape the grandchildren. Wink Other people's children do not bother me. They are not my responsibility, that is down to the parents. Haven't been to a CL yet that was swarming with children.

No need to worry BB, most dogs are fine with all age groups, playful young toddlers, energetic children, adventurous teenagers......even grumpy old gits will get a wag!InnocentHappy
