just want to share my experience of safefill gas bottle, l have been looking at them for a long time now and have always put off by the price tag at £150.00. I managed to find one for sale on gumtree for £45.00 for the 7.5kg bottle which was only 6 months old so bargin. My local service station was fine with me filling it up, it had some in so l topped it up which cost me about £4.00. Our first trip was 2 weeks in France, we had 2 weeks of using the cadac via bbq point oven and hob etc and we had 2 nights running the fridge on gas. When we returned home l popped to the local service station to top the bottle up to see how much we had used. I was shocked when it only took £2.37 to fill it back up again. I only carry this one bottle in my gas locker now and it fits a treat. The saving to be had with this bottle is great. Check them out for yourself.

Looking at the pics, ISTM that the tap merely provides a shut-off on the extension from the POL fitting to the fill point on the bodywork. As it is in effect only an extended pigtail with a gas hookup point, I can't altogether see the need for the additional tap beside the one on the cylinder.

Well if you don't have the tap/shut off valve, when you disconnect the pigtail from the top of the cylinder a quite large amount of liquid LPG comes out of the pipe at very high pressure which isn't exactly very safe!

As it is with the valve shut, even after several thousand miles of touring, when I reconnected the filling pipe for our next fill-up, the liquid LPG was still in the pipe.

As I wrote previously, this installation was as suggested by the exceptionally helpful man at Gasit.

surprised Sounds all rather unsafe to me undecided

The installation and indeed the modification are both perfectly safe, most especially as the cylinder is inside a locker which is sealed safely away from the motorhome interior along with a sizeable drop out hole in the floor.

Initially I had thought of doing a combined pipe arrangement and had discussed it at length with that ever so helpful man at Gasit.  We both knew that my initial plan would have worked, however on cost grounds and because I knew it wasn't fail safe resulted in the modification now installed, which is fail safe.

That’s the July 2017 PDF which still states that Sheet 26 will be published shortly. As far as is known, it hasn't been.

Have you not seen the other thread where it was discussed in depth?

Merve good to note your post here. You could have info for the solar panel thread 😉

My post is over 2 months old, Merve, and was correct at that time.

My local Morrison’s is having a spend £50 and get 10p a litre off.   So on Thursday I spend my £51.87 to get the voucher.  Only to be told that the vouchers weren’t being printed due to a technical fault, if I went to customer services next day they would issue me with one.   Actually I went customer service and explained that I had only spent the money to get the voucher and needed fuel so was pretty cheesed off.   Answer came back sorry sir we can’t give you a voucher at the moment, because computer says no,  but would sir like a £5 gift voucher as a good will gesture sir would!

Yesterday the car is running on fumes, Safefill in the car.  I collect my voucher Mrs Boff fills the car and I fill the Safefill 15 ish litres £8.67 and the car 55 litres. The nice lady kiosk combine the totals so I effectively got another £1.50 off the gas so 8.6kg for just over £7.00 seems a bit of a result.
