Merc 250 GLC

RominYogi,  I would say Yes!  I have the ML350 AMG which has similar mirror housings.  You won't find better mirrors in my opinion and provided they are not too old I am sure that they will be fine.

A few years ago Milenco re designed the clamps to make the jaw which slides inside the housing thinner. Since then I have never come across a car that they didn't fit.  Remember too that you can always fit them below the door mirror if the top is too curved etc.

Have not towed with the GLC, but the 250 should be fine!

I always had a right game fitting them to my E class Merc, the same as my present car a Discovery 4. Many forums complain about the brackets slipping off because of the shape (tapering) of the top of the mirror housing.

As suggested on other forums I now use a piece of old tyre inner tube on the thinner part of the Milenco bracket, it stops the bracket sliding of the mirror housing perfectly and also protects the paintwork of the car. An easy and cheap fix that enables use of the otherwise good mirrors.

I couldn't put the Milenco bracket on either of the above cars because the mirrors  would then fowl the bodywork of the cars.

As an aside I have used both sizes of Milenco aero mirrors and now use the Grand Aero which I much prefer.

Milenco Mirrors fit on our 250 GLC without any problem,  our van is only 1250 Kgs, great tug, stable with plenty of reserve power. We have the electric factory fit towbar excellent piece of kit, combined with reversing camera makes hitching up easy. A good test of a car is if you get in and enjoy driving it and that is definitely the case.

There is an easy solution to the problem of mirrors slipping off the curved top contour of some vehicle mirrors, swap sides and clamp the mirrors to the bottom of the vehicle mirror which is usually flat.

KPH, How old are your mirrors?  It sounds to me like you might have the older & thicker clamps.  I certainly have never had the difficulties in getting them to fit or slipping etc.  Once clamped on mine are rock solid and have never caused any damage to paint on the mirror housing.

Milenco do supply the newer clamps if you have the older ones, although they did it through a nominated stockist rather than direct.

I've got new mirrors and clamps, also contacted Milenco about the issue and they supplied me with their latest clamps which are exactly the same as the ones I already have. There are a number of other forums which mentions the difficulty with the new clamps , that is where I got the fix from using the old bike inner tube which works

If you put the mirrors on the bottom of the car's mirror housing the Milenco mirrors fowl the car's bodywork, (not on all cars but certainly a number)  when the car's mirror folds when the car is locked. You can turn this folding off on some cars, this was possible on my Merc E class easily but to turn it off on Land Rovers it is a dealership job!

Hi

Do an internet search for a German company called EMUK they make mirrors for specific cars as opposed to universal clamp on ones. We have a set on our Tiguan and they are brilliant, they take about 30 seconds to put no messing about with clamps and bits of rubber.

Not sure if they make them for your Mercedes 250 GLC but worth a look.

I found with my GLC that the clamps (2017) were a very tight fit and fouled the glass. However if you persevere you will find that tightening the clamps causes the housing to distort enough to free the glass. Also when the car is locked they just, and only just, miss the door window when they fold up. No problem with slipping, and I use them well towards the outside of the car to give maximum viewing width.

I would also recommend the grand aero convex, they look massive but they are not much bigger than the standard car mirror and give a great view.

By the way:-  the GLC 250D is a great car for towing, bags of torque, GTW of 5000kg, add the luxury of adaptive cruise control and you have the best tow car I have owned, and one that is not too massive to use as the holiday runabout when you are on site.
