The cars I have been looking at are , AUDI Q3 QUATTRO MANUAL , HYUNDAI TUCSUN 2LTR MANUAL , VOLVO XC60 2LTR MANUAL , all will be diesel .

I look forward to reading all your valued views , thoughts and comments

Don't know what the weight of you van is, I tow my 1370 Kg Lunar with a XC60 2Ltr Manual and cannot fault it, tows well plenty of room economical approx. 32 mpg towing and mine is £30 road tax per year

Hi Mick,

I have just swapped my tow car, I have moved to a VW Tiguan SE 177bhp 4motion, this is a 2 ltr diesel manual, I tow a Bailey which is 1490kg MTPLM = 88%, the car is a fantastic tow car and also really comfy both towing and solo. I have achieved 39mpg solo and around 34mpg whilst towing.

The Tiguan is very similar to a Q3 so it may well be worth considering as an alternative, hope this helps.

Jmeg.

I have a Tuscon 2 ltr  with 4 wheel drive 182 bhp towing an Elddis Affinity 554 2016 model and it is great. About 40 mpg in normal driving and 28 to 30 mpg towing. Had Santa Fe before that and I have had no issues with either car covering over 50,000 miles between them. Would recommend the Tuscan and Tthen enjoy the cash you saved against the Tiguan for other things. Buy via Hyundai Affinity scheme and save a fortune. I'm sure that as a member of the Caravan Club you are eligible.

Forgot to mention u also get a full size spare alloy and lots of intelligent kit in the Premium model. Looked at Volvo XC60 and Honda CRV at time of purchase last year and none of them have a warranty and price to match my Tuscon.

Happy car hunting.

As much as I am an Audi fan the Q3 is the one car I would not go for in that shortlist. A Tiguan or an ex demo Skoda Kodiaq would be my starting point or possibly an older Q5. Better still I prefer the Audi Allroad/Passat Alltrack variants to an SUV and it would be automatic, will be much easier to sell on.

towcar.info is better than this clubs matching service as they have my car over 200kg lighter than it is but they never replied to any of my emails. ignorant and told them that at the NEC in October.
