Hi

I'm looking at a brand new X1 to to my 1500kg bailey. Is anybody towing with one of these  ?

It looks small but its 2000kg with 150 bhp so its similar stats as an x trail i used to tow with.

Not sure which X-Trail you had but I have a 2005 2.2 4wd version. Weight with tow bar, 90% fuel tank and 75kg driver allowance is 1725kg.

Hi Rich81

My BMW X1 xDrive 20D Automatic 4WD has an unladen weight of 1660 kg.

I tow a Coachman 460 VIP 2018  MTPLM. 1500 kg.

I have weighed everything added to the stated ex works MRO.

which shows I’am at 90%.

Very pleased with how the car tows. Only just purchased the caravan

and will take it to a public weighbridge soon to make sure my figures are correct. I have towed caravan for 13 years and always keep to 50/55 mph.

EasyT,  I really love your wit. You have made me smile many times as I wade through the daily dose of discussions. Keep it up. Let’s have more.

Well, I’ve now had the caravan weighed at the local  public weighbridge and are happy to confirm that by taking a few things from the van and putting them into the car it’s 60 kg under its maximum plated weight and we are now towing at 87%.

What tow mirrors are you using on your x1 I’ve just changed to one and my Milenco grand Aeros are a bit tight to the mirror glass going in the top and there is a lip on the bottom of the mirror housing that gets in the way

Hi Kenneth

I have the X3 now but i used Milenco grand aeros on the X1 and  I fitted  Milenco F pads rubbers  and they fit the top of the mirror perfect, I still use these on the X3.  They were tight between the mirror and the glass but i used to be able to fit it in and move the mirror glass back down once fitted.
