It's almost 2 years since our last gas bottle ran out PD. Give it another 12 months and I'll let you know! smile

Can't say I have noticed that Peedee (I've got a strong sense of smell and OH has very little.) We've just been running our gas bottle to what we thought was the very end and it still hasn't run out and there's nothing noticeable about the smell. Maybe there's a lingering smell as the last bit comes through when the flame goes out?

There may be an explanation though. LPG itself has little smell so a nasty aroma is added to help people notice a leak. That aroma, in the form of a liquid, may not fully off gas with the LPG and may concentrate in the dregs.

Thanks DD, I was thinking along the same lines but it would be good to know if anyone else has noticed this.

I did not know rentals used LPG, I wonder if that is universal.

LPG stands for liquified petroleum gas. Commonly Butane or Propane. Calor to both. I think UK autogas is propane?

Could be a leak passed the seal , because there is less pressure in the bottle  the seal doesn't work correctly.
