E&P Hydraulic Levelling

Hi there does anyone know the rough cost of fitted the E&P full system to a single axle caravan please? .

Roughly £3000. Think it's the same for single and double axles. Only difference will be length of pipework. 

I have the E & P full system fitted to a fifth wheel co. Inos Caravan and it works very well indeed. I think the fore and aft levelling is very useful on sidling pitches.

I've been quoted £2300 (in round figures) for the Compact system and £3300 for the full system.

May I ask where you got it fitted in Norfolk ?

We got the name from the E&P list of dealers, It wasn't the nearest dealer to us but we often holiday in Norfolk and servicing can be done on the way / way home.

Tip: if you are going  there with a caravan don't follow your sat nav, go via Garboldisham, we ended up down some horrendous narrow lanes.

Going back to the original question, did you ever get it fitted and your thoughts. I say that as I'm going to get the full system on my bailey when it arrives in Jan/Feb

Yes, I did get it fitted - the compact system - and it works a treat - now that I have got used to it!

There was a quirk because of my van and I know it does apply to others because I have spoken at length with my dealer in Cumbria who is also an authorised installer and they have come across a similar problem with Buccaneers.  (I used SAP in Doncaster because they are closer)

The system has a fail-safe - and it applies to both the compact and the full system - in that it will not allow you to retract the rams until it 'knows' that the steadies have been retracted.

To do this, you have to either raise or lower the jockey wheel manually until it 'beeps' and therefore the control box has registered that the steadies are up.

Trouble with my van is that it's very long (8.1m) plus it has a longer than normal A-frame (Knaus Starclass).  Consequently, compared with a smaller van, each turn of the jockey wheel handle has less effect on the inclination of the van and sometimes, I had to get the hitch almost on the floor for it to register.  It was all a bit hit and miss - worked sometimes but not others. Needless to say, quite disappointing and very frustrating.

Then - thanks to KnausCol - whom I met a few weeks ago - he pointed out that there is a method of over-riding this fail safe - intended for when the levelling has been deployed whilst the van is still hitched to the car - it's in the manual - but who reads those!

Having made sure that the steadies are up, I now use this method and it works every time.

In terms of deployment, I can lift the nearside wheels off the ground - fit both wheel locks and then level it in about 5 minutes and I know - that because I have 'tweaked' my version of 'level', the van will be set up correctly for the shower to drain properly - every time.  Levelling fore and aft (you get a 'beep' from the control box when this is achieved) is simple and using an electric drill for the steadies, it's done in a couple of minutes - as I want it - and I don't think the extra £1200 for the full system is justified.

We have just had the full E&P levelling system fitted to our Autocruise Pace motorhome.

It cost an eye watering £5,500 - but we are delighted.

They now have a lovely touch screen control (like a smart phone).

It levels automatically in under a minute, and can lift the whole van off the ground by about 8 inches.

Ideal for wheel changing or working underneath.

Advantages are - No more arguments about how level we are.

There is no movement at all inside the van as the weight is off the wheels. Much more impressive than it sounds.

When stored it takes strain off suspension and tyres, and the handbrake is off, so will not bind on.

Ours was fitted by Courtside Conversions in Tiverton. Fantastic job. they even replaced suspension rubbers and exhaust rubbers that had rotted at no charge.

They spent ages describing operation to us, and gave us a good look around our van whilst on the lift.

Highly recommended.
