Which washroom

Having recently become semi retired and getting over a small health scare we have decided the time has come to make a move to a long awaited MH move from a caravan.

My big concern is what washroom we now use quite alot of CLs most without facilities.

We love the idea of a big end washroom but also we know a comprise maybe needed due to cost as we will be looking at second hand vans.

The Elddis 155 looks a perfect fit but I am wondering if people who have one find the shower set up as looking on you tube it's not a curtain but not a full separate shower, any other makes or models you care to share are welcome.

I know it's all personal preference and what each individual requires but any thoughts maybe useful and help our elimination process when looking.

The reason people consider changing from a caravan to a motorhome are many and varied, I am sure. I would suggest that those who are perfectly happy with their caravan and it meets all their needs find it difficult to understand why someone would change. Sometimes people thinking about changing don't always know why they are thinking of changing themselves, it's an idea to be investigated. Very often those in the thinking stage are likely to be those that tend to want to be on the move, perhaps only staying at each site for a few days and then moving on. That style of travel is ideally suited to a motorhome. If that is your style as a caravanner it is an easy swap to the motorhome lifestyle. Clearly for those that stay long term in one place a motorhome is probably not the best option. The biggest decision anyone thinking of changing has to make is the size and layout which is clearly what the OP is thinking about. Just because you have a smaller motorhome does not mean you can't go on longer trips but it does take a bit more organising. I am perfectly happy to use public transport, especially as I have free bus pass, just a shame it can't be used in Scotland and Wales! Even when had the caravan we would often use buses or trains rather than trying to find somewhere to park in an unfamiliar town or city.

Can’t disagree with any of that DK. Once we get back to being able to do weeks at a time away,, we might go back to van and leave it for a long holiday down in Cornwall. We did this for 10 years or so, and there’s no doubt that for us, a van is a better option down there, as we do love to get away from the crowds, and that means tiny, tiny lanes, out of the way coves. We did manage to get to Caerhays Beach, Porthluney in our small MH, parking up next to beach, but some would be impossible to reach. We don’t do the big busy beaches.

Hello to all posters on this.

You have definitely helped us decide on what is right for us at the moment.

I am sorry to say that today we have been and purchased a new caravan, I feel slightly guilty as you have all put in so much to help us decide, maybe in years to come we may join the MH gang.

Hopefully you do not feel like you all wasted your time, this is the great thing about the discussions page.

Thanks again to all, maybe we will get to see you sometime on a site πŸ˜πŸ‘

PS enjoy whatever you use and wherever you go.

PJMEG, if we helped you make the right decision, we haven’t wasted our time at all. If we've been instrumental in helping you to avoid making a big mistake, that’s good enough for me.

Enjoy your new caravan and thanks for the update. πŸ‘πŸ»

If something doesn’t feel right, it’s not the right thing to do.

Motorhomes can be an expensive mistake, you have to be very sure that is the direction you want to move in. It's certainly not wasted discussion as it could also be useful to those watching but not commenting. Hope you enjoy the new caravan.

I think that goes for caravans too but it's good to discuss the pros and cons, hope you enjoy your new van PJMeg, happy travels. smile

Good to know you have made the best decision for youπŸ‘ The last thing you want is to make a very expensive mistake, and then try to live with it. Hope everything works out ok for you😁
