Which washroom

Having recently become semi retired and getting over a small health scare we have decided the time has come to make a move to a long awaited MH move from a caravan.

My big concern is what washroom we now use quite alot of CLs most without facilities.

We love the idea of a big end washroom but also we know a comprise maybe needed due to cost as we will be looking at second hand vans.

The Elddis 155 looks a perfect fit but I am wondering if people who have one find the shower set up as looking on you tube it's not a curtain but not a full separate shower, any other makes or models you care to share are welcome.

I know it's all personal preference and what each individual requires but any thoughts maybe useful and help our elimination process when looking.

Well, all I can say is, if you  are still fairly mobile and in reasonable health, and can accept a few compromises here and there, don’t need to travel with a great deal of equipment, then it’s perfectly doable. Hundreds of thousands of happy folks are living proof. It’s just making the choice, small and go anywhere, travel light…..or go larger, use a bus pass, ride a bike, or tow a small car.

The key is the ability to compromise. You either do, or you don’t. There are other alternatives of course for a holiday.

As you suggest, TDA, it’s mindset and adjusting ways of doing things to achieve the desired result.

I’m surprised to read Euro's post because he’s told us many a time how he travels light in his Eriba with no water containers etc. AD on the other hand is, by his own admission, a 'kitchen sink' traveller so I can understand him not taking to a smaller MH.

If you widen your search to continental makes, there are some innovative layouts. A transverse fixed bed usually gives you a large garage area for bikes and the other stuff that we all find indispensable. You can't beat seeing things 'in the flesh' to get a real; idea of them rather than a webpage diagram.

"…..large garage area for bikes and the other stuff that we all find indispensable"

Actually, no. We don’t find items such as bikes indispensable, have never had or wanted a van of that layout and have not missed the storage space of a garage. Don’t forget, we’re all different and one person's way is not the way of choice for others. Each to their own👍🏻

Thankyou to everyone who has posted and great that it has stayed on topic.

I have to say that you have given us a great deal to think about it is really worth while asking the MH community for their opinions.

We have much to think about and lot of looking about hopefully we can find a MH that fits albeit I'm sure with a comprise or two.

If push comes to shove we can always just buy a new caravan and dream 😁

Good luck, we have had a pvc and now a small coach built both under 6m and with good lay outs, usable washrooms etc. Both have been easy to use on and off sites. We had caravans previously which we enjoyed too. You have to choose which option suits you and your life style with a few adjustments along the way. smile

"By his own admission " sounds like confession of guilt. Nothing of the sort, we have for the last 20+ years lived around 4 months each year in our caravan,  not a week or two here and there. We are not abandoning our comfortable home life in order to "rough" it.  We take with us anything we need to ensure it.

Merely a turn of phrase as I'm sure you realise, David. We do our long trips in different ways and we're all happy. What could be better?😀

No it's just an expression and it does not imply any guilt about anything, that's just what you posted

I'm not sure why the length of time being away has any correlation with roughing it or what ones takes with you? With us the only thing that changes with the amount of time away is the amount of everyday clothes, well up to a point then we pack more washing tablets,  but everything else equipment wise stays the same.

Pretty much the same although we would take an awning if staying on one site for any length of time. We would not find a campervan comfortable on long trips especially in a country not renown for good weather.

Our toilet facilities can be used in two different sizes, one large and one half the size depending how we partition it off.
