Please do not use bleach if you have dogs , if the carpet is still wet it will get on their paws ,then if the dog licks them ,ugh !!! Bleach contains "sodium hypochlorite "

wink Hi 'Outdoor Lady,,when i did a 're-carpet' on a motorhome ,i did'nt have the edges bound, and the tight weave never showed any signs of unraveling .But i would think that if you're lifting them in & out ,it might be prudent to do so.See what the carpet shop say's ??cool.

I've always found caravan carpeting a little less hardwearing than I would like. I might get something more substantial made.

I posted in another thread the following:

On my recommendation a friend of my sister had carpets made from offcuts from the carpets she'd had fitted at home (which they had stored in their garage).  She had them whipped for £1 a metre, at a company we used, and they came in at less than £20 for the set including, velcro tabs in each corner.  In this area there are lots of places which whip the edges of carpets - we're frugal lot in Yorkshire!!

You may find a stall a market near you, which sells carpet offcuts bound as rugs, and they may also make you a very cheap set, made to measure.

You can google 'carpet whipping' or 'carpet binding' and you'll find plenty of companies offering the service.  Prices vary from £1 a metre upwards for whipping and whatever the carpet offcuts cost you.

no dogs, no carpets either.....(still in their wrappings).....

used to use carpet in winter and remove them in summer. now we dont bother at all.

van far easier to keep clean by just brushing out the 'wooden' floor when required.

as we tend to be in warm places (most of the time) its dust/sand (rather than UK mud) thats the issue, so a quick brush out is so easy, whereas dusty carpets are a pain to clean properly.

van floor always warm.
