We are buying a new motorhome.  The insurance company refuse insurance. It is a Fiat base customised here in the UK. In 25 years of such transactions what is the problem now.  Has the law changed. The dealer is a large reputable one and they don’t see why either.  Any clues, anyone?

Very Strange ? who is the Converter ? do they make many vans a year.  Try another Insurer would be my advice.

Perhaps asking the Insurance company for their reasons as to why they refused insurance as it could be any number of things.  Good luck finding an alternative insurer.

Just noticed a post in another thread I'm guessing by yourself so, having read that, perhaps the problem may be solved by getting in touch with DVLA.  Again good luck.

It sounds as if the convertor did not change the details from van with the DVLA and provided this is done you should have no problem. It might take time though and is no help in the short term. It may be you should ask the convertor to also write to confirm.

I would ring the DVLA to see what the require, I did find them helpful when I had a problem with my driving licence having my date of birth wrong.

This is a duplicate post. OP first posted last year, apparently managed to sort out the issue, but then this rogue post appears yesterday. Goodness knows how, but seems par for course on this website.....๐Ÿค”

Thanks. I remember now.

It seems we're putting 2 and 2 together and deducing that the wrong vehicle type is shown on the V5. Perhaps Horizons will give us a bit more info but, if he has been supplied with an incorrect V5, the vehicle converter can surely help sort it.
