New Lunar fixed end Bedroom van issues?

Hi all.

Just looking to see if anyone has purchased a newish either a lunar Clubman (S R) or lexon (590) with the mid Bathroom & end fixed double Bed. We fancy this layout & have seen a few good deals on 2018 models. I have noticed quite a few 2018 Van's second hand already on the market so I'm just wandering if there is an issue with this particular layout! These models have a storage unit that goes right across the van under the bed with access from both sides of the van. With this loaded and clothes in the wardrobes on the back wall for 2 weeks I'm wondering if this makes for an unstable van to tow when loaded with this layout.?

Any advice / feedback much appreciated..

Hi David.

I take it you've had problems.?

I do like the look of the Lunars & all makes will have problems . I've seen some posts regarding warped fron windows and kitchen floor delamination.  What problems have you had?

I don't doubt that David will reply and that he will forgive my interim response in the mean time. My recollection is that whilst my 2012 Clubman had no problems David's leaked on many occasions and was presumably built on a Friday afternoon by somebody who did not know how to apply sealant.

I know you will forgive my intrusion David

Thanks everyone for your insights.

Totally going off the idea of a u.k. built van. Now looking at Adria, knauff etc as they seem to better in the reliability reports I've seen on line. Looks like 2 tickets for the Manchester show will have to be purchased!,

Hi, I have had about 5 Lunars and 2 Swifts over the last 20 or so years, The Lunars were all dry but the last Swift, a 2012 Challenger sport had damp reported every year for 5 years until I went back to Lunars. The latest a Lunar Ultima 560 has had spongy floor but no damp. You can never tell and it’s the luck of the draw.

Maybe the Clubman range did but we had a Lexon, it didn't come as standard on the 2010 model.

just because you have lots of storage space in the back doesn't mean you have to use it while travelling. all our stuff, cloths and food goes in storage boxes in the car and load the caravan when onsite and do the same for the return journey. if heavy stuff still left to take we put un caravan on floor above the axle.

Which is fine if you are only going from home to site, back to home again. Its a bit of a faff if you are touring and have to keep getting everything from the car every couple of days. I know as we now have a smaller Coachman and the weight allowance is very poor, so having just  about everything in the car is the only way, however I do draw the line at our clothes, they go in the van at the start of the holiday and stay there until its finished.

We bought a 2008 Lexon at the NEC from Campbells, great van and no issues in 5 yrs apart from slight cracking around front locker struts. Lunar replaced the complete front panel under warranty at 4 yrs old!

Campbells where do I start! They had total disinterest after we signed up. They scratched the flooring whilst doing the pdi and at first service put black greasy marks on cream upholstery - which when pointed out, they removed with a rag and brake cleaner - never went near them after that

Hi all.

Thanks for all you're feedback & insights regarding the Lunar models we where looking at the dealer in question.

We visited the show at Trafford park in Sunday.  Got a great part X deal on an Eldiss Supreme (dealer special) from Preston's. Hadn't even considered Eldiss but loved the layout. (And price)!

Thanks for all you're help.

With regard to the layout itself, we have the Affinity 550 and find it well suited to the 2 of us.

The shower on the 550 is partly over the offside over the wheel arch and this reduces the shower area. A fairly minor point.

We carry very little under the bed to avoid stability problems carrying clothes in a bag laid over the axel. Awning & chairs etc in the car.

I have been looking at the Coachman 545 VIP with the same design however the washroom/door configuration is great at keeping daylight from the front area when trying to sleep to the rear.

With the 550 the toilet door becomes the dividing door at night however there is a 3" gap at the top which we have taped a piece of cardboard across to reduce day light in the bedroom.
