Might want a peaceful nights sleep BB. Next door to Carefree is Arden which out of the two I prefer. Both have hardstandings but Arden has good views across the solent.

I know you are asking about CL`s but if you want a club site Then Rookesbury Park has ferry pitches depends when you want to travel as the site reopens on the 16th March. Carefree is a very popular CL as the pitches look out across the Solent. Arden is also good.

Living 10 miles from the ferry, this is obviously not an issue for me ....but my choice if I had an early ferry AND required a proper campsite  would be the C&CC site called 'Chichester'  ....but actually at Southborne, very close to Emsworth.  Seldom any traffic problems between there and the ferry.

For a night stop I would be looking for somewhere as cheap as possible. A Club site would be the last of my choices, even some of the commercial sites can be cheaper than CLs. Take a look at Drove Lea Farm at Tichfield. £10 a night, no hard standing though which at this time of year could be a drawback.

Depends on what time your ferry is really, we often take the night ferry so our overnight stop is some distance from Portsmouth. If early morning then Deleted User Users suggestion I believe is a good one.
