Wi-Fi York Rowntree Park

Yes, we found it less than reliable when we were there too.

Daft thing is, we did get a very good 3G signal (even 4G at times - you get it in the town and it sometimes stretches out to Rowntree) so tended to use the phone as a hot spot there.

Have you spoken to the site staff,  they may have a reason or possibly one of the boosters has tripped, and unless they are advised of a problem,then you will never find out, then come back on here and update us,

We managed to reach the free York city wifi while we were there but we do have a booster.

According to the CC info York  Rowntree, although in a city, is only a bronze rated site. So a maximum of 8mb spread across 98 pitches. As York is normally fairly full the wifi is never going to be that good with such a poor bandwidth. On sites like this it would make much more sense to have a low powered router, in say the information hut, where you could go to link to the internet. Trying to provide an internet sevice to the caravan in these circumstances, just isn't viable.

Good grief! 8mb! Is the problem the service provider or that there is no fibre to the cabinet nearby. I run at 16mb at home on copper some 1.5 miles frm the exchange as measured by cable route! The York site is in a city!

Is the challenge the service level agreement with the service provider? 

I was at York earlier in the year and the service then was good. It is very poor at the moment. By the way this was written in a cafe in the centre of York. Quicker to walk in than use site Wi-Fi.

I believe that you will find, as I have in the past, that the staff will point you towards the fault line number. Been there in the past. No thanks.
