Disgraceful behaviour by the Caravan Club insurers

A sad story.  If you are in touch with the victims do please pass on good wishes from lots of us. 

But would you have "waited for permission" to do something or anything?  No, nor would I.  In a situation like that you and I would  get on and do whatever is needed  - and then put the insurance claim in afterwards. 

I hear the wardens were very helpful to the people concerned.  Good for them. 

What a terrible thing to happen and then have to wait all that time for some help. My heart goes out to those involved. At times like these insurance companies need to be more proactive and have feelings.

This is what really grieves me about insurance in general.

When an incident occurs and you are at your lowest point and really need help, all too often one hears that the insurance has not lived up to it's promises.

I do know someone that (apart from legally required insurance) puts the equivalent insurance premium into a bank account. His rational is if something happens there will be enough to pay out.

Not sure that I fully agree but it's something to think about.

I do not understand what has gone wrong as when we had a Mishap the insurance folk could not have been more helpfull

Perhaps the clubs full time Insurance champion would like to advise members what steps the individuals involved and the clubs insurance department responsibilities are in situations like this?

Having read this thread and the information given on the other thread, unless their insurance was null and void then why would I want to be left in such a predicament.

Sorry but the Cc do not insure the motorhome. The clubs brokers put the business with various insurers so unless you know who insured this one you have no idea if you are moving from some other firm to the one involved.

The fire may have occured during the night but finding alternative acvomodation can take time and is unlikely to be possible to be started until after 9 am.  Eight hours may seem a long time but you do not know what was available in the bussiest time of the year when most decent establishments would be fully booked.

Insurers do their best to help in these circumstances but you have to realise that these things are not always that easy. At that time accomodation could be a real problem.

I assume the people visiting the site were the clubs own liability insurers who would be yet a different firm again. Having done that job we would normally check if we had anyone available who could attend quickly. Sometimes it is possible and othertimes it is not.  Whatever you might believe there would be no connection between the response by the vehicle insurers and the liability ones.

..Thats put things into perspective, reading some posts the on site staff did what they could,and in the heat of the moment did the ,m/van owners or others, actually know at the time what insurance they have ,as the m/van had all their possesions destroyed
