We are currently covered by the C&MC for the above insurance. A few days ago OH went onto the website to check what it would be for this year's cover.

Today we got the renewal notice through for £24 more than the quote off the web, now its not a big difference but he called to see why there was a difference. It would seem that there is a £15 renewal fee surprised the rest (£9) couldn't be explained.

Guess we will not be renewing then but taking out a new policy.

This club just gets better at treating its members like fools.

A £15 RENEWAL fee for clicking a few buttons is bizarre. OK some companies discount new business but to market a renewal fee seems plain daft.

Somebody is loosing the plot in the club hierarchy

With things like car insurance, if you can get a cheaper quote from their site, than what the renewal quote is, they will honour that. It seems strange that they won't do that to secure the business.

We always shop around for home and contents, often get lots of money off. LV are usually very good👍

My thoughts ET, we have just taken out a new policy starting from when the old one finished. Silly idea taking a renewal fee.

You would think so Steve but the girl was not for honouring the online quote so what can you do undecided

We had done the shopping around bit TDA, we want the 90 days out of house cover, the club to be fair, came up with a good quote. Just a shame that the renewal was more than the online quote and they wouldn't honour it, so took out a new policy.

Never mind just worth me posting on here in case anyone else is in the same boat. When I took out the new insurance I was asked did I want to just automatically renew next yearsurprised that would be a NO laughing

It's always puzzled me why you are charged a renewal fee. It's probably because the insurance is done through Devitts. Do Devitts not get a commission from the insurance company? I suppose at the end of the day you have to go by the total renewal figure compared to other quotes, whilst some companies might not mention a renewal fee it could be buried somewhere?

We had the same with car insurance a few years back, OH rang to say we would not be renewing, when asked why, she said she objected to paying the additional renewal fee, so they removed it!

Tried that Kj,  just got told couldn't do anything about it. We told her to just stop it at the end of its life and we would take out the quote we got on line. Have to say she didn't seem surprised or bothered about it. Just seems such a strange way to do business, never come across a renewal fee before.
