We are currently covered by the C&MC for the above insurance. A few days ago OH went onto the website to check what it would be for this year's cover.

Today we got the renewal notice through for £24 more than the quote off the web, now its not a big difference but he called to see why there was a difference. It would seem that there is a £15 renewal fee surprised the rest (£9) couldn't be explained.

Guess we will not be renewing then but taking out a new policy.

This club just gets better at treating its members like fools.

No, neither had we.  OH had shopped around, and the premium was good, but the renewal fee took it to more than the next best quote, plus that policy had a higher excess, so we thought it was worth a try.

We have just changed our tow car and went to amend 'online' the insurance policy. Wouldn't let me do the amendment..'please contact a sales adviser'. No phone contact only web chat. Long story short, adviser says existing company will not cover us for that vehicle..The new Shogun Sport..Thats the long story as i could not understand why..

Eventually the adviser gave me a new quote with another company at an increase fee, I could understand the increase as the new car is slightly higher value..Being internet savvy my OH was looking up the comparison sites at the same time looking for a quote..Surprise.....all were in the region of £200 cheaper. including the existing company (who would in fact insure us, contradicting what the adviser told me ).

Needless to say we cancelled the existing policy...and after a conversation with the dealer who sold us the car..he told us it was down to commission on new products, amendments and renewals do not attract the same level of commission.

I am also still in conversation with Red Pennant business manager who is still in 'negotiations' with the insurance company as to whether we will get a 'refund', 'deferment' or 'freeze' of the Annual Policy. See latest reply below:

I would like to apologise for the delay in contacting you regarding your request for either a refund, extension, deferment or freeze of your current Red Pennant policy. We are still in discussion with the Underwriters, Astrenska, with regards to what exactly can be applied and aim to contact you with an update as soon as we are able. Please be assured that the Club are working hard to protect the interests of our members.

As soon as we have an agreement in place we will update you with the options available. As always, we want to ensure that all Red Pennant policy holders receive the very best service from the Club.  We very much appreciate your patience in waiting for an outcome to your policy query.

Hi

has anyone had their quotation to renew their caravan insurance ( club insurance) was really disappointed to see the price had only been reduced by THIRTY SIX PENCE I thought I’d read a comment saying they would be looking at seeing if they could give customers a little back I don’t think majority of customers not even been inside their vans or camper never mind used them.

It could still have suffered a total loss by a lot of the insured causes, such as Theft or Storm Damage, Fire, Lightning strike etc. so the club has still had exposure for the unit.

There isn't a mechanism with any insurer that I've come across that gives discounts on Caravan Insurance for reduced usage. Some members use their caravans for over 200 nights per year, some others for just a fortnights holiday yet the Insurer treats both the same.

Even I, with limited skills, can run through comparison sites for car, caravan, breakdown/ recovery,  house, contents and travel insurances - and compare with renewal prices from whosoever I am with this year. There was only one I didn't change last year.
