I have just recieved my renewal for car insurance through the club, from devitt insurance brokers,  the policy had gone up by £58 even though my car has devalued by a £1000 pounds as it is another year older.

While I was talking to him he said has your vehicle got parking sensor's yes i said, factory fitted he said that they would have to charge extra aswell, because it has sensor's which were optional on my car so they would count as a modification well i cancelled the insurance renewal which was £476 minus the new charge for parking sensor's which would have gone on top of the £476 it was £418 last year which i thought was dear enough; so i have insured it with tesco with the same cover for £351 a saving of £125 it's true what they say it pays to shop around,   so if any of you have had your renewal i should see if you can get cheaper else where.

Car Insurance makes no sense, my wifes car is insured with the CC as it came in cheapest with the appropriate cover. Yet my car quote was way too dear with the Club and Landrovers own insurance through Allianz beat everyone.

Next year it will be all different again.

Premiums can be affected by different companies results but basically they alter premium levels usually up as the syatistics indicate they should. This means different companies alter their rates at different times so the best deal can vary even from day to day as things change.

I would like to alert members to the dangers of paying inflated insurance premiums.

As I insure my motorhome with them,I decided to give the clubs insurance an opportunity to quote for my car insurance this year.

OH boy it came in at £468.09. That's £280 more than who I have now gone with.

Do yourselves a favour, shop around and use a cashback site like Top Cashback or quidco.

Quite a Saga. surprised

Do remember that with insurance like everything else you tend to get what you pay for so the cheapest deal may not always be the best.

I do try comparison websites when renewal comes along but use them more to negotiate my premium down as the lowest quotes are often with firms I would not touch. You might want to look on here to see the difference in the Ombudsman's findings on complaints. The percentage upheld vary from 15 to 72% for different companies in general insurance where you will find you car and caravan insurance.
