Why is the website so slow

I have tried a couple of times to book online for a site when it became available but the web site is so slow by the time I have gone through the process it is unavailable so booked private site else where. It is like wading thru treacle using this site to book. Other web site are fine

If they outsource the servers are they possibly not in this country.

Latency is defined as

The term latency refers to any of several kinds of delays typically incurred in the processing of network data. A low latency network connection is one that experiences small delay times, while a high latency connection suffers from long delays.

When I link my speed test program with a server in Delhi India I get a latency of 372 ms, rather than the 20 or so with a server in Manchester. This has a dramatic affect on available bandwidth which varies significantly with each test. Unlike the fairly constant figures I get from servers in the UK.

I would imagine that adjustments needed for the bookings slots today have slowed things up, hopefully now over.

That sounds a possibility but I would then expect the latency delay to be near constant whereas the problems here seem to be time based.

What frustrates me is that the club have allowed the problem to continue for years even when it is easily corrected.

I couldn't get onto the site last night. This morning it is has reverted to it's normal exceedingly slow loading. The question now is was it worth the effort?

It's very acceptable in speed at this point in time, near instantaneous page changing but will probably revert back to its usual soon.

I do have fibre to the house mind, and a latency of 2ms.

Our ping test is 2197 ms so we have a double whammy if things get slow. (No fast broadband here.)

To be honest the whole web site is really slow compared with any other web site I visit. I am using a recent iMac and using V-Media 200mb for internet connection.

Last week whilst I was away the site was slow but I put that down to fact that I was tethered and the signal wasn't great.  At home I'm on cable and the club site is as fast as any of the websites I tend to visit.  So just wondering if it's folks own broadband set up?

This morning it's as lively as a spring chicken.
