What changes would you make ?

If you could, what five changes would you make to the clubs rules, procedures, systems etc.

Mine would be

1) book 12 months ahead on a rolling basis

2) be able to book late checkout

3) pitch anyway on your pitch, nose in, sideways etc

4) never have all toilet blocks closed at same time for cleaning

5) more full service pitches

no moaning about rules are rules, you signed up etc, I just wondered if there were any common

threads.

are you saying that paying extra for dogs is good practice?

Also who is say what good practice is? My good practice may not be yours and vice versa of course?

ive not joined this debate as its mainly about a wishlist which, based on the CC pace of change, would never happen even if everyone thought something was a good idea.

any suggestions made by posters are just that, suggestions made based on what they've seen at sites theyve used, maybe here, maybe abroad.

good ideas in Spain dont become bad ones when you cross the channel, so dismissing ideas that posters feel works well (wherever) may not be right either...

this is a totally subjective thread with no right/wrong/good/bad ideas for change....if someone has experience of sites that charge for dogs and sees a quieter place as a result, whose to say this isnt a good idea....it was to them...

the issue here is that any mention of 'dog' produces the expected defensive knee jerk reaction.

dogs owning is popular, this is apparent on any visit to a club site, there will be very many dogs on site. this growing number may not be so popular with the non dog owning membership, but thats life on a club site.....dogs are 'welcomed' and free.

however, none of the above precludes anyone suggesting that charging for dogs (or a dog, or imposing limits on numbers) is (or isnt) a good idea, if theyve seen it in action and it 'worked for them' then surely its valid?

"It discourages travel with small packs and strikes a fair balance between the minority  who travel with dogs and the majority who dont."

But I thought the case made in similar previous threads was that club sites were overrun with dogs? Some even suggested there were more dogs on site than humans. Now you're saying it's a minority.undecided

I do agree that since the title of this thread is "what changes would you make" folk are quite entitled to suggest changing to a charge for dogs though some of the justifications given seem slightly dubious to me. In particular the "one free then charge" seems ridiculous - I mean are folk with 2 or 3 dogs twice or three times as likely to allow their dogs to foul on pitches or leave them unattended etc? No, that notion is ridiculous - you either charge for dogs to discourage folk with dogs staying or allow them without charge. The club has decided the latter is the more attractive policy. smile

About 30 independent campsites here in Cornwall alone are now saying no dogs at all. Some of them very highly regarded sites like Padstow Holiday Park, St Ives Bay, and Pentewan Sands - and it doesn't seem to harming their attendance figures. Other very popular sites like Polmanter have a one dog limit.  Are things going that way in other counties?

It's no wonder less people are heading that way

As more and more food oulets and hotels are now being more dog friendly, as they are starting to realise how much biusiness they have lost in the past,

Ah yes, but there will be people who will avoid food outlets in the future because they now do allow dogs.  wink

I see this thread has moved onto the 'Dodgy' sorry Doggy subject...so being the author of a previous post where I commented that there were more dogs on site than humans.....I had better keep quiet.frown
