As this has been discussed many times and this post will be locked to stopped any comments.

Yes you can book a year in advance but this still stops people booking a a whole week (7 days) due to the weekend bookings. The problem is not going to go away until something is done about the weekend blocking. I suggest that the club takes a look at the amount of weekend bookings. I notice that there are discounts for midweek booking so this surely must show that CMC must be loosing out on revenue do to weekend blocking.

Think the OP is probably talking about a popular site, probably close to large cities....Peak District, York, Cotswolds ?  Sure if they look farther afield they would find something to suit.

Depends on time of year David. At this time of year some sites may have grass pitches not released for booking. For all I know if the weather was cracking the warden might allow those that wanted one to use one freeing hard standing. No idea

I was relieved when I arrived  to be told "no grass in use at this time of year" as since the site was shown as full I was dreading a muddy start to the new vanundecided

oh you have a new van then? Great - happy?

I wonder how many of these sites are actually fully booked. Just recently I made a rare visit to a club site and it was shown as fully booked on the website after my booking had gone through, whilst there I asked to move pitch and the warden obliged but at the same time told me the site was "running full"

At no time during those 3 days were the approximately 10 vacant hardstanding pitches occupied

"No shows" or poor software?

As the site you were on was Commons Wood that is at the moment being refurbished (might take longer now)the pitch situation would have been very "fluid" but as you were only sumising the situation then both your "comments"are probably wrong as it seems you did not as so many posters do not ,ask the site staff , who would give a more accurate answerwink
