Warranties - Using Club Influence for Members

There will be many members whose Caravans or Motorhomes are going to need to be serviced to comply with and safeguard their warranties.

Can the club use their influence, if they have any, to ask all of the manufacturers to extend these warranty deadlines by the same time as the Government deem unnecessary travel to be in force? This would be acting in the interests of their members, particularly those who have been specifically asked to stay indoors for the next 12 weeks.

I cannot see this type of travel as falling within the definition of essential, although it is quite possible that motor vehicles will still need MoTs. Nothing heard yet about what steps the DoT will take on them.

All garages are not open - my VW service dept, with whom I have a service plan, are closed until the end of April and there is no indication whether this date might be extended.  As my annual service (already booked) is due by the end of May I do have some leeway to go beyond this for essential use. My first MoT is due by 30th May, and the government’s six months grace does free up any urgency.  If I do find any need to visit a garage, then I would have to visit whatever is available - which would be very unfortunate for a 3-year-old car with less than 13,000 miles on the clock.

Le Touriste, have you registered your account with VAG UK online? I received an email about a week ago, inviting me to register. I was then able to contact VW UK by email to raise a couple of queries which were answered within 48 hours.

I've just checked the website and seen the 'To protect our employees, phone lines closed' message, so email is the best option.

VWCVFinanceCustomerServices@vwfs.co.uk email address. They will probably reply with about a dozen questions to verify your identity and the vehicle but, after that, the service is very efficient.
