Strategy, Plan and Communication section

Considering the comments from the recent Broadway thread - in the 'Sites & Touring' section - would it be a sensible suggestion to request a specific monthly section within the CC mag to communicate Club Strategy, the supporting plan and how the plan is performing?

Subject to not disclosing commercial sensitive information, this would provide members with oversight and empower them to make informed decisions and raise questions; plus breathe new life into the monthly magazine.

Forgive me if I have missed such a regular monthly update when I canter through the club magazine.

We pay our  annual membership to a no shareholder "club" that has an elected "commitee" that should oversee the activities of said club for the members,so we should be kept informed of the way the "club" is going forward in the future, and not having amongst other things Broadway, and now coming to light other sites are being percieved to members

It is a bit different in that you can offer your services to the club council and join in with decision making on behalf of the membership.

There is plenty of information in the yearly reports and accounts which is normal practice. I see the magazine recently asked for interested members with expertise to step forward and offer their services. See "Your Club Needs You" p10 Feb Magazine, you can then offer help with an organisation with a turnover in excess of £100 million!Happy

I saw that but wonder how many members would meet the JD requirements?  Interesting that it has been advertised to open it up a bit.

I think what the Club has to ask itself is whether current communication with members is fit for purpose. If you think of the things that have been mentioned on the forum where if the Club had been a bit quicker thinking they could have stopped a lot of the often angry discussion in its tracks. Irons, washing vans, Broadway, to mention a few. It seems that the Club don't understand that these issues will cause concern. A fuller explanation of the decision rather than just an announcement would save a lot of letting off steam on here. On the plus side it would also show the Club up in a good light as showing they understand members concerns.

Yes, it would be good to see better and faster responses to member's questions and views. Although I feel disconcerted when people say "I threw the magazine straight in the bin" and then say "what's going on, why weren't we told?" when there's often quite a bit of information out there already.

However there's always room for new ideas and improvement and I'd welcome new approaches too. The board management does seem detached from the membership.

I agree some of the decision making processes are not well explained and which probably makes people sceptical about things.

Well I meet the JD but I haven't offered my help as I'm busy enough doing work I get paid to do. Laughing

I do read the magazine, annual reports, accounts etc.

Strategy, Plan and Communication section - is there one? We know there is none of the latter. As for the other two....

Not sure if it is relevant but the C&CC do not reveal this information and frankly I doubt most members would be interested.  As far as I can remember most queries on sites have been answered reasonably quickly.
