Singles Penalised

Does anyone else feel that singles are penalised when it comes to deals?  The Club keeps saying that £14 per night is a grand deal for 2 adults and up to 4 children.  True - it is  But for singles it is NOT.  There are over 60,000 of us who do not get the same benefits as families or couples.  Despite my efforts nobody seems to care.  If there are good deals on offer then they should be open to ALL members even if they are lone travellers.  Does anyone else feel the same?

the reason I joined the club is so I pay pitch fee + adult night rate ,but think the membership fee should be slightly less for a single person or they could do a no magazine opt out for less and as someone else has said I use less water than a family or even a cpl I only have a tiny camper so it only takes up half a pitch hence why folk traipse through my pitch on their way to the toilet block

I have some sympathy with you, tootsie, although in fairness I think the club offers solo travellers a pretty good deal compared to some other organisations because of its "pitch + person" pricing structure. But I can see that the statement you gave in your OP does come across as a bit insensitive. As TtDA says, there are some good deals out there but you do have to look them out. Have you tried any CLs? They can also offer some economical rates and are one of the main reasons many of us are club members.

Hope you find some good deals! Happy

I would think that, out of peak period, a single person is often better off on a club site than a CL, as the latter charges a set price regardless of the number in the van.

Write your comments here...OK if a person visits a CC site and the charges are for example  £6.00 site fee and £6.00 per person., A couple will pay £18 per night. A single will pay £12.00 per night. Perhaps I am missing something, but I fail to see see how singles are being penalised. I seems perfectly fair to me.

Agree K. Just what I said, without the details.

you may have a point with the membership fee

Why? GC has the same access to all the same facilities such as insurance etc as any other member.

Write your comments here...actually I dont as the caravan club wont insure me ,discount on a new car is worthless to me and there isn;t a cotswold clothing company in my area

Whether you use things or not, you still have access to them....the same as other members.  Everyone has things which will be positive for them being part of the club and things which will make no difference to them whatsoever.  I guess everyone has to make a decision on whether the CC is of benefit to them or not and on joining you accept the conditions or look to change them by joining commitees etc.

well when a couple join the other half gets free membership, so the cost is halved, sort of. I know it all comes from the same pot. I am not saying the membership fee should be half for a single person but some reduction perhaps? The same as the reduction for single occupancy for coucil tax. Pitch and person fee should stay the same.

I think the OP is confusing the issue. The £14 a night is an effort to fill underused sites and must be borderline profitable if at all. In practice adding more people to the unit does not increase costs a great deal so the discount for solo or couples would be minimal.

I do agree the base price could be for the unit and one person but that is a different matter.

If you give a discount to singles, it is unfair to couples. If you give a discount to singles, it is unfair to couples. Everything in life is unfair to some individuals or groups. Get used to it, quit moaning, enjoy the bargains when you can and just enjoy caravanning. Smile
