Should the Club put it's foot down?

It's good that over the last few years the Club has been moving towards being more aware of the needs of our planet and the care of it's environment. Certainly sites like Poolsbrook with eco aware facilities are to be aplauded. The Club rightly should encourage, even expect, it's members to play their part in cutting energy consumption, and think beyond "just me".

Is it then time for the Club to introduce a TOTAL ban on awning heaters on thie sites? No doubt some members will see this as an infringement of their rights. That right being, in this case, to completely ignore the consequences of using energy in what is basically an outdoor space.

And the rest of us can just shut up, stop whinge-ing on, and pay for their electricity wastage in our site fees.

At least some CL owners are aware of this, and have moved to banning awning heaters on their sites.

perhaps CC needs to look at how commercials operate with reception staff, groundsmen, handymen, cleaners, etc..yet provide (often) more comprehensive facilities (chef, waiting staff, bar staff) with similar prices.

compare Henley Four Oaks (i think one warden set when we were there) to Swiss Farm next door, which has pool, restaurant, bar, cleaners, gardeners etc, etc..

today, HFO is £21 for two people in our van, SF is £23.50 for a far nicer site (imho, which is why we chose it over HFO for Regatta week) with far more facilities.

it can and is being done with different models.

investment and shrewd operation can yeild better facilities, without exhorbitent price rises.

I would trial one person doing loos and leave one in office.

If only one does the loos then who does the showers? They work in pairs. Surely if only one then logic means the facilities will be shut for twice as long! No trial needed it is just common sense and basic maths.

In the past OH and I have "volunteered ?" to assist some of our friends on a one couple site with cleaning the facilities, and even on a small site (40 pitches)when full, it needed all the time allocated to clean up after the members (hate to think what their houses are like)undecided

So the verdict on banning awning heaters is…… 🙄

"the more something changes the more it remains the same " OW,

joined the club in 1998 so a newbie compared to some, has much changed since then?, not really undecided so we can blather on and on on CT but i see very little hope for change. Yes some sites have been upgraded but the operational model remains pretty much the samefrown

Wonder why folk like me prefer the CC site just down the road. Oh I know the reply 'You are set in your ways Alan'.

For some of us simple folk less is more. wink ....... yes even when it costs more for less in that instance surprised. I said yesterday that I was a strange cove BB. More strange is that I am not entirely alone
