Is it a rip off?

Hi I have a rant to get off my chest

Just booked a site for 21 nights for an eye watering £540!   After I got back on my feet I was informed that Caravan and Motor home club have increased their Easter fees this week two weeks early.  Why I ask. even the management were embarrassed and thought it were shocking.

I spent 5 nights last week on a fabulous caravan and camping club site in heart of Northumberland with all the facilities and with over 60s discount £8 pn!

After only just re-joining I cannot  see the benefits of staying with  C&M club prices are beyond out reach.

A serviced pitch at Hillhead next Easter is heading towards £50 per night for two. You can see the prices ahead, I feel this is hard on those who can only go away for school/works holidays and the only way to reduce costs is to take up the offers on cheaper sites (club or elsewhere) or use CLs or go on a rally.

Like BB I checked Hillhead as it seems to be the marker for higher prices, Knaresborough and Seacroft are similar. I don't how much the basic £15 will be next year?

Yes, from a personal viewpoint I think it's getting expensive but as a retiree on a fixed income I am choosing this type of holiday at present because I like it.  I often tot up what alternatives there are and I'm realistic that most types of holiday will cost more at times like Easter.

"Serviced" pitches here at Black Knowl are £39.20 per night for a couple over this period, needless to say most nights they are full and the majority of users are motor caravanssurprised

Ps I have found that I can still service our c/van without out the add cost wink

Really find it strange that motorhomers use serviced pitches....why ?  they have fresh and waste water tanks, some are vast others not so big, but all would last at least a couple of days before a trip to the MHSP is needed. Another of life's little mysteries.

We were in conversation in the men only area last night (dish wash room)and it included site prices, the consensus was that us oldies do not seem to realise how costs in all areas have increased since retiring also how much saleries have increased, the two younger men thought that what they were paying per night here including their children now on school holidays was very favourable and were quite happy with what it was costing

Min wage is now £9.20 an hour £368 per 40 hrs

All down to personal choice, of course. At Cirencester last week, where only the HS pitches are in use at the moment, the serviced pitches were pretty much full all week and split roughly 50/50 between caravans and motorhomes (and also roughly 50/50 between those hooked up to the water and those not). undecided
