Insidious Development

Question!!! Why and Who made the decision to install static accommodation units on Club site's.Surely these sites are provided for members who take to the road in their own funded vehicles, why are we now being asked to fund the life style of these "Static Dwellers".Are these Static Units really for the use of friends and family? If so why is their a 10percent discount for members. No they will be rented out to people who have not the slightest interest in our way of life.If friends or family want to experience caravaning and motorhoming their is always the opportunity to hire.I would be pleased to be enlightened on what the perceived benifits are to the caravan and motorhome club member A further point is that the number of pitches available to members will be reduced this is especially important at peek periods.A large area at Coniston Park Coppice has been allocated to these Static Units complete with their veranda decking. We members are funding this cost and will not derive any benifit. It is time to stop this Insidious Development.

but the good news is, you don't have to use club sitessmilelaughing

you tell Sainsburys which products to stock too?

Ahh.......but..........wink

You're right, you don't have to use club sites, or shop at Sainsbury, but if I'd paid to be a member I might feel that I had a right to express an opinion on what was in the stores.....?....(I'm sure the shareholders do....)

Whilst TDA is right, Stano's most recent post is a bit of a rant, his OP has received 21 "likes" so far, the most I can ever remember seeing for a post, which indicates to me that many people share at least some of the concern he raises.......undecided

On the face of it no.......

But then it's the same old small handful of people on here.....

If that proportion of people is the same across the wider membership, that's an awful lot of unhappy people......surprised

Edit - snap ET   !!

Remind me how many stay at Coniston on a regular basis?

Posted on 29/04/2018 18:26

Is that relevent? This is likely to affect more sites and already does. I have probably used coniston twice in 6 years or so which is about as regular as I use any site and probably moreso with th exception of Christmas at Southport.

Ahh... but

When you join, of your own free will I take it, and become a member what rights do you have as a member? I really don't know actually. But probably none, or at best very little? What rights does a shareholder have in a company anyway? Are we shareholders?

Yes they can express their opinion of course and the same for on here, but that's not what I was responding to Stano about, he said (and my bold):

The power's that be,not the "touring fraternity"make the decisions. There we have it,like it and lump it.

It would be impractical that all the members of the club could vote on every matter? Or indeed many would not be bothered. So what happens? I think you can vote on who is elected to sit on various groups that make those decisions, a bit like general elections here but that's about it. If Stano and all those 21 actually write in to the club and your elected representatives then that could make a difference.

the best vote of course is empty pitches and or empty pods.

There are very few sites with alternative accommodation and there is some productive income space at Coniston, it's also providing an all year round place to stay. A lot of sites are closed in the winter so the opportunity to try other accommodation across the network is in a limited number of places.
