Insidious Development

Question!!! Why and Who made the decision to install static accommodation units on Club site's.Surely these sites are provided for members who take to the road in their own funded vehicles, why are we now being asked to fund the life style of these "Static Dwellers".Are these Static Units really for the use of friends and family? If so why is their a 10percent discount for members. No they will be rented out to people who have not the slightest interest in our way of life.If friends or family want to experience caravaning and motorhoming their is always the opportunity to hire.I would be pleased to be enlightened on what the perceived benifits are to the caravan and motorhome club member A further point is that the number of pitches available to members will be reduced this is especially important at peek periods.A large area at Coniston Park Coppice has been allocated to these Static Units complete with their veranda decking. We members are funding this cost and will not derive any benifit. It is time to stop this Insidious Development.

I have used a microwave as such about 3 times in the last 12 months. Twice to scramble eggs and once to thaw meat. I wasn't sure if bits of bean might fly about and would have dropped a cover on

That's three times more than us! We haven't owned one for last ten years. Takes up too much room in kitchen, and our 33 year old caravan only has a double ring and grill!

They are great for some things, but we don't miss one. laughing

Well guessed, I'm the General Manager here. The 10 new Pods we are receiving soon have been upgraded from the ones we had last year.

We are hoping they will be available from early July.

Thanks Janet. It might be worth having a word with the Experience Freedom agents, as they are doing you no favours by giving out misleading information. Also it might be worth it being mentioned on the web site information.

I love the idea of pods Etc on campsites for so many reasons. Attracting families only being one. I would suggest no more than ten per site to leave room for the traditional caravanners.------------K

Some very distorted views on this forum. Where did the idea that Caravan and Motorhome users have some sort of aversion to each other come from? People don’t communicate much on Club sites anyway, they spend most of their time watching TV. Of course, Motorhome users dont fill up aquarolls and empty waste at the same points so perhaps that accounts for the lack of communication?

Getting back to the topic, the Club are copying what many sites in Europe are doing. It is popular and brings in money. Pity that it reduces the space for touring pitches but then you can’t tour in the UK in mid or high season without booking in advance.

The cooking facilities will have an induction hob, toaster and microwave oven plus the outside bbq

I reckon I've seen many an excellent menu cooked up on master chef on less appliances than this. Certainly better than that Primus stove we first starting out in this pastime of ours and what wonderful fare that produced!

I hardly use a mike and wondered if the beans being in skins might explode, do you drop a cover on?

yes, ET, we use an old plastic take-away container with it's top placed lightly on top. Give it a go!

Well I guess that's it then.Women discuss the kitchen sink,Men take their teeth out and go to sleep. The power's that be,not the "touring fraternity"make the decisions. There we have it,like it and lump it. Fait accompli.Nothing unusual there then.

I'd take more water with your bitterness pills Stano. There's plenty of room and pitches still left on the network, just chill out, enjoylaughing
