Hyundai membership offer disappointment

Has anyone else had problems with members offers for tow car discounts?

I recently took up what looked like a fantastic members offer the caravan have on their website regarding great discounts on buying a new Hyundai tow car with excellent discounts

Because we purchased before the 1st of April this included a free tow bar with electrics and fitting

While being really pleased at getting such a great deal on the new car this has been soured by the problems I'm having getting the towbar fitted firstly the vehicle sat at the docks for 18 days supposedly to have this fitted but the team at the docks firstly said they only had the tow bar and not the electrics and although we now have the car we are still waiting for the tow bar parts which my local dealers will gladly fit straight away if the parts ever arrive and while this goes on I'm rapidly approaching our planned next holiday with our caravan which at the rate it is going we will end up having to cancel our holiday

i would have thought they would be better prepared in regards to having these parts available before offering a free tow bar

Well just when I thought we were finally getting somewhere.....

ok so finally having our car dealers bring someone in to check the tow bar and cut the bumper so it finally  stood upright, however we took the car over to our caravan storage site and connected the caravan to the car only to find that while the road lights on the caravan worked fine when we switched on the road lights on the car we found that the rear left hand side red rear road light on the actual car flickers constantly and makes a ticking sound

I have purchased a Hyundai Santa Fe under the above scheme and although I am now very pleased with my purchase, I did have problems similar to what is described above. I was originally quoted 7-10 days delivery, however I eventually received the car, complete with free tow bar a couple of months later. I too was told the car was at the docks waiting for the tow bar to be fitted. After many discussions I was told that Hyundai fitted Witter bars and they were having problems with delivery from Witter. I contacted Witter by phone, having got their number from my local tow bar fitters (it seems that Witter do not give their number out to the general public ) and they confirmed that they were sending Hyundai tow bars out later that week. I did then receive my car one week later with the bar fitted. So certainly in my case it seemed that Witter were the problem. Incidentally if you go on Witters site for a bar for my car (santa Fe), it did state that the bar is under development.

Also I feel that I should point out that Hyundai state in their handbook for the Santa Fe ( page 5-138) and I quote " Do not do any towing with your car during its first 1200 miles in order to allow the engine to be properly break in"

The 1200miles  before towing is also the same with any Kias (same stable except two extra years warranties)

The 1200 miles statement is a strange one this is our second Santa Fe and our fourth Hyundai tow car and rightly or wrongly although we have never towed from delivery mileage we have towed with less than 1200 miles on the clock without a single issue ironically in regards the tow bar the biggest issue has been that our local dealers admit they have virtually no experience of fitting a tow bar to their cars whatsoever despite it being their idea to ft it at their workshop rather than wait for fitting at the docks, also when I spoke to witter they sent me instructions for the tow bar which clearly stated may need to make a bumper cut to gain correct position of the tow bar dealer didn't seem to read this wnd fitted it not only incorrectly but tried to tell me it was fine to use despite both the caravan club and witter themselves stating otherwise and couldn't even tell me the make they fitted so in hindsight if I ever need another tow bar fitted I won't be using a car dealer to do so free or not and although I'm more than happy with the car I won't use the same dealer again for anything also just to n a note regarding the car revision for the correct towbar although the car is a 2017 the revision is my2016 therefore a 2016 Santa Fe towbar is the same as the 2017 tow bar kit from witter as th car structure is exactly the same only the trim and equipment fitted may differ
