Every day without exception a thread is started critising the club and I have to admit tha,t on occasions, I am one that isn't happy with every aspect of the club.  So its about time we celebrated and pointed out the positives of the clubs.Happy

Goodness knows why the warden positioned vans like that but the Stoke Fleming site was a commercial site that C&CC took over a few years back. Perhaps the facilities are a work in progress?

In fairness, the roads in that area are far from ideal for towing on, as anyone who's been to other club sites nearby will testify, and I would expect nothing different there. It's certainly not a fast road by any stretch of the imagination but it is the only road usable along that coastal section so carries a fair bit of traffic, including busses.

I've had a rethink since my previous post. Isn't it the norm for C&CC sites to only have one CCEP and usually it's at the facility block?

I recall being pleasantly surprised when we joined CC to find disposal points incorporated into the service points on most sites. That's a plus for CC.

No it's not the norm just to have one disposal point but both clubs have sites that do just have one. There is an aerial shot of Stoke Fleming on the C & CC web site where the spacing looks fine. It's not a site to choose if you have dogs because dog walking isn't easy around there and the local beach has a total dog ban. The Slapton site, a bit further on is good for dog walkers, the beach is accessible and there is the nature reserve over the road where dogs on leads are welcome. Both sites have good bus routes into Dartmouth and Kingsbridge/Plymouth. The Slapton site is much more peaceful as it's away from the main road and just a short stroll from the village with two good pubs and a shop.

Indeed.

I beg to differ, Brue, on the number of CCEPs on C&CC sites and can think of several where there is only one. I consider it the norm for C&CC but not for CC. Granted, there are exceptions on both sides but I'm talking about the norm and CC, in my opinion, does far better.

Well it's a question of name that site then...Wink but seriously does it affect anyone that much? I can't say I've ever booked a site with either club based on the number of loo emptying points.Smile

I doubt it affects anyone much unless they have to queue. I was making a point in keeping with the topic 'Hurrah for the Club', that's all - no big deal.Undecided

And that's what I was doing in mentioning it.  OK no big deal - but it just made me realise the things that I have taken for granted on Club sites in the past. Most of the commercial sites we have stayed on have also had better facilities.

All we need is a good pitch on a well maintaned and if possible scenic site. Apart from electricity, water and waste disposal we are not worried about other facilities and bars put us off. On that basis club sites tend to meet our needs.

Having just returned from Scotland where the first 3 weeks were spent on non CC sites and then ending on the CC site at Bunree I certainly think our Club provides the best experiences. Each evening returning to the caravan you could only guess how close our neighbours would site up - the nearest was 8 feet away. It was like being in a supermarket car park. By comparison Bunree was a joy with plenty of space maintained by the peg system!. Yes we have rules in the club but they are there to maximise everyones enjoyment. Much to enjoy!
